Good Morning JPFers everywhere! Another oldie made all shiny and new by Mike Zaneski. Let us know what you think. https://soundcloud.com/rickib/reasonREASON He left for the Bitterroots in the spring He headed west saying west’s the best Since he didn’t take everything I waited for his call through summer and fall Waiting’s no excuse Cos mostly you lose I need a reason to forgive All the lies and the loss of my soul I need a reason to forgive Crazy Woman Creek runs through my yard Don’t know her real name but we’re the same Twisting and turning, not going far Afraid to let go of what we know But living in fear Is what brought me here I need a reason to forget All the sweet things he said to me I need a reason to forget Winter’s come down with a howling blow Still no boot prints in drifting snow So I pour more wine to pass the time Drinking only eases the pain Till it comes around again I need a reason to believe That love is real and I will heal I need a reason to believe I need a reason I need one good reason I need a reason I need any reason at all ©Ricki E. Great lyrics and... that voice! Wow!
Winter’s come down with a howling blow Still no boot prints in drifting snow
Love those lines.

Thanks Vic, and there really is such a place...the road sign for Crazy Woman Creek was one of the inspirations for the song. It pays to stay awake on road trips. Ricki

Hi Ricki
I like that a lot. Interesting chord/melody sections throughout. The lyric has pathos and you voice and delivery are riveting. What a great arrangement and production Mike created!

Hi Ricki...I've worn out my welcome on the internet for awhile but I had to say this was outstanding. Have you heard of The Trinity Session by The Cowboy Junkies? This would fit on that. You should pitch this.

An excellent write Ricki. ~~ Crazy Woman Creek runs through my yard ~~ Don’t know her real name but we’re the same
~~ Still no boot prints in drifting snow ~~ So I pour more wine to pass the time Very cool stuff
Mike knocked it out of park...... as usual.
Your vocals here has a Grace Slick / White Rabbit, feel to them.
Nicely done U 2

Ricki,
Strong lyrics, sweet haunting vocal, and slick production—all add up to a fine listen. Like the backing vocals in the chorus in particular—they really add some nice depth. Well done!
All the best,
Deej

Beautiful! Lovely bittersweet sound. I'll be playing this one again.
My favourite line was : All the sweet things he said to me the way you sing that just got to me.
I wasnt as keen on the repeat of West in: He headed west saying west’s the best I think you could easily switch that to something like: He headed out saying west’s the best and keep the internal rhyme, but make it easier on the ear. But that's a minor quibble!
Lyrically, may favourite verse was the one starting: Crazy Woman Creek... especially these lines: Twisting and turning, not going far Afraid to let go of what we know
Wonderful work.

"Crazy Woman Creek runs through my yard Don’t know her real name but we’re the same Twisting and turning, not going far Afraid to let go of what we know But living in fear Is what brought me here"
Outstanding....
Enjoyed it.

Thanks for listening, Owen. We like return customers! That line gets a lot of attention. All these years later, I forget where it is but there really is a Crazy Woman Creek. Maybe someday I'll pass by there again... Ricki

Wow that is a strong tune Ricki. I now have 3 songs among my favorites …
1. Reason To Believe - Tim Hardin 2. Reason To Believe - Bruce Springsteen 3. Reason - Ricki
That is one great lyric, one mighty fine performance and just a fantastic production by Mike. I love the way the song builds. Beautifully done.
