I have the song on a two disc set, THOSE WONDERFUL YEARS. And to boot I think Doris is still alive.

Yep, she's still alive - 96. I'm reading her bio. She's top-of-the-line. Loved her in "Young At Heart" (teaming up with Frank Sinatra). I think I'll watch that film tonight. John

A remarkable lady. I wonder if her popularity would have fared well in today's snarky environment. During her career, every film she made was a "box office hit." Thanks for sharing, John.

Beautiful song, what stands out to me are those arpeggios on piano running up and down all through the vocal. Today that would be considered "too busy" and distracting. You might enjoy this John, sadly, the only way I heard the song was on the sopranos tv show, I don't remember it being on radio at all. I'd say Annie probably was a fan of Doris Day. This song knocked my socks off, one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in last 25 years https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf052uxFF58&time_continue=43

I've always liked this song, although I haven't heard it a lot. A song I did hear a lot growing up in Scotland was the traditional air "Bunch of Thyme," of parts of which this song is very reminiscent. I wonder if Fain or Webster had heard that song and it was lodged somewhere in their subconscious. Here's a link to it. Around 1:20, the line "Once I had a bunch of thyme" is close enough to "Once I had a secret love" to have made me think of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjyJ86GiPukI'm probably just being fanciful. Whatever, they're both beautiful songs.

beautiful song, it is hard to believe that she did it in one go. Only few in the world had the ability to perform there art flawlessly in one go.
