First of all; love John! A great talent and a great guy! However, his excuse for fracturing his ankle, (slip in mud) seemed a little sketchy to me and I decided to dig a little deeper and my digging turned up this:

[Linked Image]

Sooooooo...it seems our John was practicing some keyboard moves maybe he shouldn't have been.....
I know, it is embarrassing but it's just more proof that the truth is out there!

Ah yes, the famous "right-heel-black-key cluster" maneuver, made famous by Jerry Lee Lewis and the likes!

Cool move, John!!!

And I doubt that Jerry Lee ever mastered the ability to casually sip a martini while pounding the keys like you had here..

That move was in Thompson's Piano Course (Eighth Grade)..I only made it to the fifth grade, where you learn to use your nose around middle C while playing extreme low and high notes with the hands.. Thompson quickly discontinued the "nose manuever" after lawsuits involving deviated septums started pouring in. wink

Mike

Oh, John...this is not what they meant when they told you to take your foot out of your mouth!

Hilarious replies! laugh

It had to ne my sustain pedal foot - bummer. Though I've already gotten use to using my left foot. Maybe the change will lead my music in new directions.

Best, John smile

Surely this photo was taken back in the day? But of course, maybe the FBI photo you use for your JPF ID gives the impression of maturity! LOL!

I think I've told my Jerry Lee Lewis story before... but here goes. When we were much younger, my wife and I and another couple were in Hot Springs, Arkansas at the races. Afterward, we went to one of the clubs for dinner and a drink. Jerry Lee Lewis was performing upstairs. As we were headed upstairs to hear him perform... he runs down the other escalator as an irate husband begins taking shots at him. We are grateful that the shooter was obviously not a good marksman.

Later, ----Dave

I wonder if he's still making these moves? Maybe that's why he hasn't been around much...another injury perhaps? grin

Word has it, he can still be found, but only comes out after midnight in the smokiest and uber-cool retro bars ..... somewhere in Latin America most probably .... where there's dictators, and guns, and a lot of rum. smile

cheers, niteshift

Just Plain Quotes
"Sometimes reaching a goal earlier than planned is a great achievement. It shows you have worked hard, pushed ahead and made it happen. However, sometimes reaching a goal far past your original deadline, long after you wanted to complete it, and after the accolades you might once have gotten for the achievement are over, it is an even greater achievement. This shows you never gave up, due to adversity, deficit, criticism and those little life detours that end many dreams and goals. In many ways, this is a reason for even more pride!" -Brian Austin Whitney
