That's a fun video. The next one that played automatically on YouTube had Jimmy Kimmel asking Billy Joel what was his favorite Springsteen song. Before he replied, I said to myself, "Bet it's 'Meeting Across The River.'" I was right. Obviously Billy and I are on the same wavelength. It's my favorite too.

Yeah guys, Billy is usually pretty accessible, you wouldn't know he was a star, not unless of course you happened to see his house. Yeah Gavin I had written that originally, but i didnt want to crowd the thread. That is my favorite Springsteen song too, it's just a great track, so dark and real. Puts you right there with them. That trumpet was played by jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker, stand up bass by Richard Davis. Gives it a street life feel. It's probably the least popular Springsteen song, off of Born To Run So You, Billy and I all agree. Didn't realize so many people even know that song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOaOjc2crx4&app=desktopListen and be there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTbX2LYZx2A

I think it's legacy Barry. He's never gonna write Scenes from an Italian Restaurant or New York State of Mind again, I doubt he'd ever even write a We didnt start the Fire or River of Dreams again. Id rather remember Billy for his great stuff than have the young kids make fun of his new stuff He explains it here http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/billy-joel-reveals-make-album/story?id=26343381Its true artists like Dylan and Springsteen, Neil Young keep putting out albums... and really you have to ask why when nobody buys albums or music any more, nobody even knows they put them out except the die hards Bruce's ace in the hole is still his live performances .

They are writing about their Journey through Life and I'd love to hear and know Billy's.....I bet he has a lot of songs that would come out about his life today and going forward if he started....Maybe he has many songs but is afraid to let people hear them. BUT I new Billy Joel Album would be Monumental and would sell gazillions....B

Well he said it would sell in the article.... lol
But I think he'd be surprised how little it would sell, it might be stolen quite a bit. Name alone would sell alot but no gold records here.
Id like to hear a new album too, but part of being an artist is knowing what sucks and what dont.

He and new songs could never suck.....AND he'd find some younger kids that would fall in love with him. I'd love to know what's on his mind.....

Yes a legend, and one of the great songwriters of all time. It's funny people never seem to mention him when it comes to greatest songwriters lists. He's usually much lower in those lists. The question I ask is what are they judging by? Longevity? He's got it. Hits? He's got more than most. Craft and skill? His compositions are like pop classical opuses His music tells a story without the lyrics many times. When guys like Lou Reed and Kurt Cobain are ranked ahead of him I have to scratch my head. I like those guys but they have never written a New York State of Mind, or Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. For me he makes the top ten, just for being able to be a commercial juggernaut yet still have musical integrity and writing meaningful stuff, unlike many other pop songwriters Here's an underrated piece, the music, melody, arrangement are all running on ice...and yet it's a pop song. It's genius really. Tom waits and Neil young are great songwriters, and I love their music, but they don't have this kind of composing skills. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IVihX4jjLDI

Billy is the best Singer Songwriter and Songwriter. He has a few Classics that will be standards forever on our planet.....I still wish he would write some new songs. I'd love to know what he thinks about the world and growing older and all life things. He probably has some amazing songs in him but for some reason he has chosen not to.
