https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13724150Portmeirion is a tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village, and is now owned by a charitable trust. In the mid 60s a TV drama was made here called The Prisoner. After initial poor reviews it went on to gain cult status and brought millions into the local economy. Thanks to MZ for his work on this including the vocal PORTMEIRION Verse Hitched a ride upon a cloud did'nt need a pair of wings just the warm summer sun sailing on a gentle wind Chorus saw a village in pastel shades floated down through the haze Portmeirion Portmeirion sea birds sang As they danced from wave to wave Verse Outside a small café I nursed a glass of wine Tall girl in a floppy hat asked me for the time Verse I SAID, it'S 8pm THEN Botanic clocks chimed SHE SAID, MUSTdash,Prisoners ON channel 6. at 9 B Heard a violin playing a familiar Portmeiron tune Then i drfted off to another dream don't the best dreams end to soon C Music outro

Also on today's playlist for Source Radio in Cornwall I do need to check what I played last week, but here is the playlist for today's show on Source fm 96.1FM 2pm - 3.30pm GMT: 50 Year Storm Anne Tan, Clara Cantone, Gladys, Jason Achilles Mezilis Joel M Posner Kev Howell Liam Jordan Luke Mizra Michael Zaneski John Vaughan NAVASA Paul Vens Raising Jupiter Rysevv Floralyn George Sahr Issa and Swift Timmy. To be tagged on FB - makes it easier to hear your plays on radio or press mentions to share with your followers - I suggest: 1. Have a Music Page and ensure you have called it as close to the page name as possible: ie www.facebook.com/Sophiesspringboardshow is also @Sophiesspringboardshow and Sophie's Spring Board Show 2. Share the URL, Page name (as above) and profile picture (see mine below) when sending music in to press. Listen on www.thesourcefm.co.uk/listen from anywhere from 2pm - 3.30pm GMT today (Friday).

Travis,
A very nice listen. The simplicity of the lyric is refreshing. A nice melody, too.
Michael's production and vocal really sell this. Reminds me of something Oliver might have done.

A lovely write Travis... wonderful story and vivid scenes.

Hi Ed I agree Irish folk contemporary folk has more prospects perhaps. But it's nye impossible for unknowns to get a deal it seems As a long standing lover of old country and guys like Alan Jackson i've had to separate these from hard facts. Country music doesn't sell in the UK like it once did. i got this time and again when i approached publishers which was frustrating I like folk/ irish anyway so i tried it. Cheers Ed John

Travis (and Mike),
You two just keep knocking it out of the park. What a great feel and sound this tune has! And it looks like you’re getting some play on this, which is well deserved. Congratulations!
All the best,

John,
This is magical. Somewhere during the first verse, I was so captivated by the sound, the words and imagery, the arrangement and the singing that I lost all sense of time and place and simply drifted along on the current of your music.
What really captured my attention was how well you used a non-standard song form, one that I don't think I've ever come across before, and it was the perfect vehicle for this wonderful journey.
I really enjoyed where you took me.
Regards, Noel

Hey Travis and Mike,
Stunning.
Just stunning. I really am lost for words. You took me to a small Welsh village.
This piece works in every sense of the word. Travis, in regard to local folks using your material, yes, it just fits perfectly.
cheers, niteshift

Hey Travis/Mike
I thought this was a very melancholy tune, and a nice tribute to this place.
My first thought was that in the lyric there is nothing that says "this is what it's like in Portmeirion" but I think of the countless other songs where specific places are mentioned, but you couldn't tell where it was or what it was like just by the place listed.
Like many love songs mention places where the two people met, or are currently at, but don't actually say too much about the place itself
So on that note, I liked it, If I may intrude, I thought u could have paid it off a smidge better. I Like the first two lines of the last verse, but I thought the final line didn't live up to the rest.
Just my opinion, but I really enjoyed listening

Hi Fdemetrio Thanks for your comments. In all honesty i didn't set out to write a travel blog on Portmeirion. The visit was in a dream and i needed only to get a couple of subtle references to the villages history/ features. And left the rest to the melody and Mikes vouce and production. I'm pleased you enjoyed the listen though. That's good to know Cheers and thanks again Travis
