please listen..... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewartSheet Metal Catfish © words and music by C. Stewart April 22, 2018 Well I owed a little money to Jimmy The Hand Eight of nine hundred, maybe a grand But I was broke, didn't have a dime I was running out of time So I closed my eyes and I made a wish I hope that Jimmy don't take, my fish Sheet metal catfish in a bowl Well it broke my heart but it sure beats dying When he took my fish I started crying I used to watch em splash in the water But now they splash for Jimmy's daughter So beautiful and so rare They do the back stoke the flip-a-roo My best friends, perform for you I used to watch em splash in the water But now they splash for Jimmy's daughter Now I close my eyes and I made a wish I hope that Jimmy takes care of my fish Sheet metal catfish in a bowl I close my eyes and I made a wish I hope that Jimmy takes care of my fish Sheet metal catfish in a bowl Oh so beautiful Oh so beautiful And so rare

You can't beat plenty of iron in your diet and a sheet metal catfish could be the answer. Although I know you were close to your fish and this wasn't a consideration Let's hope Jimmy's daughter takes care of the fish with no nasty games with a magnet and piece of string, which could be a fatal attraction A winner Calvin Travis

Catchy title.
I had a hard time discerning the lyrics but always enjoy Calvinisms.

Hi Calvin:
I enjoyed the melody and story line. Like Martin, I had a little difficulty with the vocal due to the "reverb" effect... but read the lyrics as you sang. Imaginative, as usual.
Funny you should mention a sheetmetal Catfish... yesterday, I attended a ten mile garage sale near Cleburne, TX and saw a collection of sheetmetal critters including a couple of Catfish... and lo and behold, there were several sizes of my Razorback Hogs and I nearly bought one... then remembered my studio is overflowing with little treasures my wife would love to jettison! LOL!
Enjoyed your work, Mr. Talent. ----Dave

Like Dave I thought of our yard/trail art around the house which has several fish.
I have a friend who specializes in building abstract tin fish....gotta send him a link to this!
As always so cool!!!

Hi Calvin,
I enjoyed this sad ballad. I really like how the bass guitar contrasts the reverb/crispy vox.

I loved the trippy vibe of this. I do think maybe a bit of balance might help. Seems like the percussion could maybe come down a bit in favor of the vocals. I believe you want them to be a bit whispery, which is cool but I feel maybe they are getting a bit drowned by the percussion and some of the other elements.
Also, I assume the catfish is a piece of art? I like how you just pick these odd, random things and make a tune of them.

Kinda spooky and imaginative--A galvanized cat fish named WOODROW would never rust---I can see the road sign sign--ALL YOU CAN EAT at WOODROW'S!

Calvin,
I concur on the mix regarding the vocals—but other than that, well done with some nice production elements that really help add depth and mood. Cool listen.

Deej

A bad salad indeed. An entertaining head scratcher too. So entertaining, I wanted to hear another verse.

"the Sheet Metal Catfish in my song are real"...But of course they are! Calvin, your ability to find inspiration any and everywhere is an inspiration to me...all it takes is looking at the world more sideways than head on, something I am still working on. Thanks for sharing your talents. Ricki

Loved it Calvin. I rack my brain for hours, weeks, months trying to come up with a unique subject matter for a tune. I think I could have thought for a lifetime and not come up with a tune about sheet metal catfish. Trippy and enjoyable as usual.

Hello Ricki, Good to see you in here, thanks for putting up with me for so long, and thanks for the really nice comment. I'm sure my songs are not everyone's cup of tea, so I'm real happy when somebody can enjoy something about one of them. Looking at the world sideways is the only way to go ! Another cool piece Calvin. What I really like is the creative way you use Panning in the mix and the contrasting tempo, of the verse and chorus.
Nicely done indeed.

"Sheet metal Catfish"...…...what in the tarnation are they, dare I ask? Always the head scratcher.....always provoking the questions that keep us coming back for answers.
Nice hearing from you, Calvin! Fun stuff...……... -Tom
