Yes many are. A huge amount of the general public will still not pay for music no matter how many laws you pass. But murder is against the law too. People still do it.

I didn't know the Senate had actually passed this piece of junk yet. You can bet your Baby's Diapers it won't be good for the little guy/gal singers or songwriters. Suddenly AOL started taking like this bill was something wonderful. I'm sure streaming (the little guy gets hit by the stream of urine flowing from Nashville) so they can drain our swamp. LOL.

I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it. I thought our copyright law was just fine the way it was.

I like your comment about Nashville. I grew up hearing Country/Western Music. The western part was left behind long ago. Now Country Music is no longer Country either. I was a square dancer for many years as a younger whipper snapper and the music was memorable. Melody, harmony, great lyrics, and dance rhythm to boot (literally). I wonder how ASCAP will be handling this new development.

How is the net neutrality vote going? Is our population gonna take yet another beating?

Hi Perry:

Since I fear my days ahead are probably limited, I'm spending more time in my little studio (controlling things I have the power to control... LOL!) I have a difficult time keeping up with all the political gyrations going on regarding music and the internet. I've heard nothing positive or good about the real intent of the proposed legislation regarding "net-neutrality." I will make more of an effort to follow up, though.

As far as the Music Modernization Act, I've written my Senator (Ted Cruz) to advise him of all the really bad stuff going on with this blatant attempt to freeze out the little guys like you and me. I know he got my message (or his staff, anyway) but have not received his comments yet. There are tons of articles both pro and con to be read on the net about this.

It amuses me to see how ASCAP and other Pro Organizations completely ignore all the treaties we have in-place for copyright and the handling of payments for performances, recorded music, etc. Our congress is probably using the "blind-eye" technique until their ignorance is brought out by the few real news people we have left.

Thanks for caring. ----Dave
