The sum total of my mistakes is what got me here. A little history... MISTAKES man, i made a mess of montreal i fought and failed in philly denver was a dead end and jersey, hell, that was just silly nearly found that nashville rainbow until it all came undone somehow i landed here in paridise all sand and sea and sun bumps and bruises and bad breaks been bounced along the way but all and all I'd say I've had a ball the sum total of my mistakes is what got me here today so maybe they weren't mistakes at all teri really turned my head man i thought i was in love when that fell through i took up with tammy what the hell was i thinking of broken promises and broken hearts all played out in song figured i was destined for lonely and then... you came along bumps and bruises and bad breaks been bounced along the way but all and all I'd say I've had a ball the sum total of my mistakes is what got me here today so maybe they weren't mistakes at all it's been a great life... no mistake at all Hope you enjoy the journey. Do you feel this one is shades of, say, Luke Bryan? I interpret this as an anthem for one who delights in words, connections, and variety. There is certainly a lot of that in this one.

Hi Floyd, always a pleasure to hear your songs, a unique way to look at the trials in life. it seems like its always about the writing for me, and the music a bonus. you always do a great job on both. Lane

Floyd,
Terrific (and true) write and great production on this song. It gives me a just a glimpse of what Bruce may have sounded if he did some country—and I really like the view. Very well done!
Kind regards,
Deej

Brian - thanks for having a listen. I am not really very familiar with Luke Bryan. Heard things occasionally on the radio, but they don't stick with me. I listen to a lot of new music (mostly Country) - but it is generally streaming new records that catch my ear. I'm listening to the new Ashley McBryde and the new Brothers Osborne records - both are excellent.

What a fantastic lyric and a great melody and production to boot. Didn't realize you were a neighbor Floyd. Glad you found your way to sunny Florida. That wasn't a mistake after all.

Hey Floyd,
Love the genuineness of your vocal attitude. Great song & story.
Life can be and is more fun when we look back at the roller coaster ride and realize working for our goals is actually part of the fun. The disappointments actually enhance the highs, and means you're really "living!" It appears to me with those that seem to have everything to make them happy end up bored & "grumpy" anyway! We songwriters all want an audience, most of us won't get as big an audience as we dream about, but small audiences still can be heartwarming and very rewarding. One thing is for sure, there's a lot of talent in this world, and only a few get the lucky ticket to go to the big party--if there's anyone around here that deserves in that party--IMO, its you.............

Another fantastic lyrical hook, Floyd. This has a Jimmy Buffet feel to it for me -maybe because there are no regrets in it. And that chorus is really catchy! You're probably getting as tired of hearing this as I am of saying it - but this really should be on the radio. Scott

Great Lyric Floyd. I thought the verse melody was good but was a little disappointed that the chorus didn't explode more but I really liked it.

Great theme Floyd. A mixture of traditional country and more contemporary. Well done. Best of luck with it Travis

Nice one Floyd, some mistakes never go away though. It wasn't a mistake listening, but that crack about Jersey.....
How do u get biab to play that descending line? Do you enter the chords with a bass note like c/g?
I was looking for a bridge, I might have done the solo with a different chord progression, but I enjoyed it as is.

I didn't think of this as a "explode chorus" type song.... Great theme Floyd. A mixture of traditional country and more contemporary. Well done. Yeah - you can walk a bass line up or down by entering slash chords.- C C/B Am Am/G F will give you a nice walk down. Some guitars and some pianos will play them, too (some do not)... pairing the ones that do can give a big walk down sound... I don't ever change to a different chord pattern for a solo - always a chunk of the verse or chorus... (and I really like this particular solo...

I love this one!
We have training wheels on until we get the feel of life--Sand and a little Salt Water will ease some of our miscues!
All of us have made the same MISTAKES, then we realize that's how we got here--still in the game!
Good luck with this one!
