I updated this song with changes to the percussion, arrangement, and mix. I'd like to know what folks think. You are my DestinyLooked through the glass Struggled to see Blinded by the forest Couldn't see through all the trees The mistake was believing I held the key Should have seen the neon sign Warning me Long gone for a season Lost my head and I left my heart behind Lost track of the reason Why I said goodbye Looking for some solace In the trappings of love Couldn't see I'd been blinded Didn't see what I'd become I finally realized You hold the key My heart is your locket You are my destiny You are my destiny My shining star My galaxy You are my destiny You steal the breath from my soul Every time you breathe Lost at the crossroad Caught in a trap Afraid to move forward Too brave to go back You are the whirlwind Inside of me My heart is your captive You are my destiny You are my destiny My shining star My galaxy You are my destiny You steal the breath from my soul Every time you breathe You are my destiny My shining star My galaxy You are my destiny You steal the breath from my soul Every time you breathe

TC,
I read the lyrics before listening to the tune, and I’ll confess I came in skeptical. They didn't, for me at least (realizing that it’s a subjective opinion) resonate with substance; and, the “not seeing” metaphor is repeated in the second verse. And the “neon sign” reference seemed out of context.
But (as I listen)—and it’s no surprise because it’s true of everything I’ve heard from you—the music, guitar work, et al., is immediately inviting. Nice vocal and harmonies, pulling melody, and as usual, killer lead.
So, on the whole, it’s a great listen, because your musicianship is magnetic. It’s strong enough to carry this tune as is, but, for what an amateur’s opinion may be worth, I think tweaking the lyrics some might add some depth and substance, and make what’s good great.
Kindest regards,
Deej

Hey TC,
So much going on here. Killer musicianship. The bass is what does it for me. The guitar work is always stellar. I hear a lot of 70’s progressive Stuff here, most notably Styx with those open Toomy Shaw like acoustic open chords. My only complaint, and I am certain I could do no better, but so much is happening that some timing amongst the various instruments seemed a bit out of sync. The fact that it is as tight as it is, considering all that is in the mix is amazing.
Great job.

Sounds great. There’s some amazing guitar work here, the vocal harmonies in the chorus are to die for and I love the overall energy in the performances and the production. Are you playing the guitars? The solos are blistering.
Impressive work TC.

TC,
This is really nice.
The acoustic sounds good. A cool opening. Excellent vocal. (I thought the acoustic could come down just a hair once the vocal starts. It is sort of "vying for attention" which it doesn't need to do - it will certainly cut through the mix even if slightly lower - and then let it back up during the solo. Just an opinion, of course).
KILLER guitar solo. Excellent drum sound. And another killer solo.
I thought the lyrics worked well. "typical" for this type song - with plenty of catchy phrases to make it quite memorable.
Really enjoyed this.

EVERYTHING works for us.
Great performances on vocal and guitar. Man, does that bass ever drive the fine mix.
Wouldn't surprise us at all to hear this playing on a classic rock playlist.
Nice!

Deej Thanks, Deej. I'm glad you liked the music. I will put some thought into improving the lyrics. Thanks, bud. I'm glad you liked it. A great sound TC quite a 60s / 70s feel to it a period in rock music i still love Great job Travis Thanks, Travis. I love music with changes and instrumental sections - the stuff we grew up with. It's a shame that music has become so formulaic (at least most of what gets played on the radio). ------ I appreciate the listens and comments. Peace, TC

really nice vocals in this TC and the guitar work is outstanding, always interested in listening to that end of it. Lane Thanks, Lane. The guitar work was fun, and the vocals were relatively comfortable to sing compared to some of my other tunes. Singing in the tenor range always seems like work on most tunes (I am a baritone). Dave Thanks, Dave. It's interesting you like the bass as this was one of very few songs that I did with synth VSTi. I like the bass lines but every time I hear the tune I want to go back and do it on my new Ibanez 5-string (which I think will sound even better). Yeah, the song is not as tight as I would have liked so I hear you on that one. The loose feeling on the song kinda works but I would like to tighten it up a bit. I am unsure whether I will do this anytime soon. Sounds great. There’s some amazing guitar work here, the vocal harmonies in the chorus are to die for and I love the overall energy in the performances and the production. Are you playing the guitars? Thanks, Nelson. I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I always do all of my guitars on real instruments. I generally only use synths on keyboard sounds but I did use synth on the bass in this one (I was between basses - I sold off my old bass and was in the process of getting a new one). ------ Many thanks on the listens and comments. Peace, TC

fj Thanks, Floyd. I can't tell you how many times I remixed that acoustic with varying levels, EQ, etc.! It's probably not perfect but for whatever reason it was one of the most challenging aspects of mixing this tune. I will certainly revisit it again at some point. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Overall great sound, vocals, guitars and the mix sounds awesome. Well done.
Ricki Thanks, Ricki. I'm glad you liked it. TC,

Thanks, Janice and Bud. I won't hold my breath on the tune making on a playlist but I'm glad you liked it! -------------- Many thanks; I hope I didn't miss anyone in my replies. Peace, TC
