Hey, all. This may have been spoken of before; in case it hasn't, what was your response to your first ever PRO royalty check? Regardless of the amount. Markus

My publisher called me and told me to join a PRO. Yeah, like Floyd, I felt like a pro. If you just received your first PRO royalty Markus, congratulations! Best, John

Actually, my first PRO check was from Soundexchange in 2011 for internet airplay; my first ASCAP check came in May the following year for international play/use. Not a lot but better than zero. Then from 2014 to now, I have been getting domestic checks (writer and publisher) from ASCAP via their Onstage program. Hope this helps.

My first PRO check was back in 2006...for a song of mine that a band recorded and released. It wasn't much but it was exciting. Germain

I was excited but it never added up to much over the years.
So much for fame AND fortune! LOL

I never tried to get a royalty. Many years ago I had a well recorded, well produced track on college radio that was getting played about once a day, and it never entered my mind getting paid for it.
What kind of pay are we talking? Pennies? You'd think thes pros would stop using paper checks to pay people, all businesses use direct deposit.
Why spend the whole dime you make on paper?
The first time I felt like a professional is when about 20 people bought one of my songs from my then site. Some sportswriter heard one of my sports songs and loved it, wrote a nice review. That catapulted me into the 20 dollar range of music sales. Minus the fees to sell it. I'd say I'm well over 10 bucks!
I have made some hard earned money doing gigs, but who wants to carry all that gear?

Ours, (Daubert & Holcombe Songs), was something like, "Hey Buddy, Look At THIS! He said with a big smile, "Alright"! We were more surprised by the various Countries listed.
