Song: Challenger Deep
Trombone, Tuba, Electric guitar, Piano, Martin 12-String acoustic guitar, Six-string Ovation acoustic guitar, Synth in Intro, Marc and Robert on vocals...

A glitch in the delivery system has been found and corrected. Please go and listen to our other three songs on the first page before they go "bye-bye"... Thanx malin

This is about the mystique of the Mariana Trench. The deepest piece of ocean in the world, it is 36,000 feet deep and is said to harbor oceanic life that no human being has yet seen. And I do like the "DEEP" subject matter...

We have been furiously building our tiny little studio for about a year now and we are beginning to get the hang of it. A lot of what we do is based on a lifetime of experience...and a lot is simply listening to our creative inner dialogue.

The piano/synth intro was introduced to give a "high seas" flavor yet still give a sense of foreboding..."...and she hates the intrusion...Mariana!"

"Challenger Deep" is the name of a legendary ship named after the trench!

And PS...Don't be afraid of the subject matter and do your research.

And okay...I will add another PS to this song. We, two years or so ago, were "the differenz"...with Robert Malin, Kate Berlin, her husband Bill Brilmayer and studios in California and Tuscon, recording pretty well in analogue...I'm just saying...find your creative harmony and pursue it for all you're worth. And just like an author does by reading, you cannot get better unless you listen to music.

Challenger Deep

Deepest ocean...Western Pac
Thirty Six Thousand feet deep
Taller (Deeper) than...Everest
Temp. is barely above the "freeze"...and

She scares me senseless: "Mariana".
She makes bravery sluggish: "Mariana".

Thirty-five degrees...
Farenheit...heit...heit...
Sixteen thousand...PSI
Cannot see the sand or the sky...

And she scares me senseless: "Mariana".
She makes bravery sluggish: "Mariana".
And she hates...the intrusion: "Mariana"..."Mariana"..."Mariana"...

Worldwide...into the Great Divide
You are prehistoric chum
Challenger Deep...maybe your bowels will keep...
As you take the Earth's great ride...

Microbial life...
Mariana plate...
US monument...
Rife with nuclear waste...
and the Kaiko Remote
The Simrad EM
and the Trieste, and James Cameron..
and the Challenger Deep
Researchers who weep...magnificent,
Towering, copious...

Challenger Deep...Challenger Deep
Challenger Deep...Challenger Deep
Challenger Deep...Challenger Deep
Challenger Deep...Challenger Deep

Love that guitar part at 1:53, has a classic vibe and nice rhythm. Right at the beginning I wanted to turn up the vocals just a bit. The bass is nice. This has some really nice transitions and the end is sweet, back with that guitar I liked, nice!!

I'm enough of a science nut to know that you did your research.

What a remarkable subject to use for a song.

Analog, digital, combination, whatever the proof is in the pudding. And the pudding is most excellent.

The brothers have it going with multiple recent posts of strong writes, productions and performances.

The arrangement on this song is very engaging and on our monitors the mix sounds terrific. Pro level all through.

Heading back for another listen and then gonna kick back and study the lyric a bit more. Lot of gems in there.

Kudos!

I know you did your homework... the lyric reflects it more than adequately. According to most sources, this is the deepest trench in the Oceans of Earth. They're never gonna get me into one of those deep diving tin cans... LOL! I'm thankful for those who possess the courage and desire for knowledge to brave those depths.

As a genre, this one is not in my wheelhouse but I admire your effort. I wonder if our friend, John Lawrence Schick might know of a film opportunity for this? Thanks for sharing. ----Dave

J and B...

Thank you so much for just noticing. It is our "thing" to dig into
interesting subject matter and "pepper" it with intriguing prose
and an assortment of instruments...The amateur community
has some outrageously good talent and really are my favorite
musicians and songwriters in the world!!! In here...you guys
are king and queen!!

Malin, you've succeeded in giving this mysterious place a personality and the music makes it a somewhat menacing one at that. Very creative effort.

This is wild! I always like your creativity. I'll need to listen to this a few times, as I have a feeling there will be something new inferred each listen. Cool, really cool!
