They're tryin' to push back, ya gotta cheer for em for tryin.
Honesty, If we someday find ourselves back in a vinyl world with digital streaming being just a whiff of what it was, well I don't know anything anymore.

That would be like bringing back the carburetor, or even the steam engine en mass.

Nah, that genie is out of the bottle.

Even myself who remembers vinyl, if I bought a vinyl record now, I wouldn't want to listen to it, because if you do it's going to scratch and eventually break.

Compared to now, it was an incredible waste of money. There is still value for mint condition vinyl releases, but the expense and the wear and tear, means it will never happen. In theory, it would be a nice fix for artists.

And you do get artwork and liner notes, and physical stuff you don't get with digital, but we have a hard enough time getting pennies out of listeners theses days. They won't pay 15 dollars for an album or whatever the price might be.

When I was a kid finding 12 bucks or more for your favorite album was a big deal, and you couldn't afford to buy more than your absolute favorite

Now I can listen to music that I would have never heard for free, or for pennies

For consumer it's a great time, for the artist, not so much

Well no records store my way participates in that, besides, those prices are ridiculous.I picked up 20 used albums today at 3 bucks each.A couple covers are a little beat but the vinyl is VG+.I do all my vinyl shopping at yard sales and estate sales and one guy i know who has a few hundred thousand where i go digging, like this morning.Ah,the smell of vinyl in the morning.

Ahh, the smell of incense, the black light room with all the cool posters, the cool new releases playing on the store turntable, the liner notes (omg do I miss liner notes and kick ass inner sleeves), the conversations, the place to be for us music nerds.

I'm gonna go curl into fetal position and cry for the young.

I REALLY miss great record stores from the heydaze.

Gahhh.

Yeah Mac, I remember record stores very well, whereas the big chains carried the popular releases the small record stores carried all the underground and not so famous stuff. And that was when there was a such thing as customer service, usually the people working in those places knew their stuff and had an answer for any record you might ask for.

Sometimes you'd get the ones with bones through their noses and flock of seagulls hair cuts, but it was such a cool vibe In those places.

The movie High Fidelity was kind of a tip of the hat to vinyl record stores, although they didn't have any business.

Mike, I'm thinking you could weasel that guy down to 2 bucks or a buck per record, lol. What's he gonna do with them?

Vinyl has its own sound, some people, prefer the sound of vinyl

We still have a record store in this little ski town. Affordable Music. Run by a good old hippy Gary and his dog Cody who we all love in this town. He is the only music store on this mountain so he has, besides old donated vinyl, strings and straps and rosin for the local musicians and is now stocking some off brand instruments and has some goodies on consignment.

Great little shop.

Well,
They still make turntables, brand new, they still make magnetic phono cartridges, they still make receivers with phono inputs, of which you need if using a magnetic cartridge, and there was a news item some time ago that Sony, I think was going to start making Vinyl Records again! And the music catalogs are offering some releases in CD and Vinyl. I still have a turntable and of course a CD player. I can also play and record cassette tape, not that I record anything but my songs before transferring them to CD.

hey Fdemetrio,yes,2 bucks is my usual buying price if buying single copies, when i buy a small collection it usually works out about a buck or less an album.I don't mind paying the guy 3 bucks plus sometimes i take my doubles or ones i'm not interested in and trade him,so that works out good. You can't hardly give away cd's around here, you're real lucky if you get one dollar for a cd,so sometimes i do buy cd's for around 25 cents to a dollar each ifit's something i don't have that i like a lot until i get it on vinyl.Happy spinnin'!
