Another from my Bradbury project. This is my tribute to the era (~1966-70) when psychedelic music was in the mainstream. Most of you are old enough to remember this I think. Hope you enjoy this https://youtu.be/nl2HYBnzNVULyric is below. Thanks, Scott The Man in the Rorschach Shirt (c) 2018 by SW Campbell When I was just a boy the girls found it cute When their favorite bands wore matching suits And they sang about love and how much it hurt Then came the man in the Rorschach shirt He had newspaper taxis and green tambourines Matchstick men in yellow submarines All those skipping reels of rhyme we heard Were thanks to the man in the Rorschach shirt And mystic mellow yellow Girls with kaleidoscope eyes Clutched surrealistic pillows And danced ‘neath diamond skies And we sported Nehru collars And striped bell-bottom pants Medallions as big as silver dollars ‘Cause we gave peace a chance I awoke one morning to a world gone gray Everybody wearing jeans and torn chambray They were singing ‘bout the joys of working in the dirt Gone was the man in the Rorschach shirt I miss the man in the Rorschach shirt

OMG...how awesome is this? I absolutely remember this era of imaginative music, big bells and vivid colors. Such visual lyrics and perfectly matched music and the video was so much fun to watch. I miss him too! Well done, Scott. Ricki

I LOVED this and also the video stuff....How did you do that. Great Song.... Most of the stuff was standard effects in the software I use. However the transitions between gray and color were tricky because they involved a clothing change - so there was no way around having to sync up two entirely different tracks. I did not expect it to work as well as it did, Barry. All I can say is that I apparently maintain nearly the same posture on every take! I will add though that overlapping both parts by several bars allows for some choice in when to make the transition. Scott

Great video Scott very creative. Rorschach Shirt I've never heard of. Perhaps it's an American thing? Good song and vocal too Travis It's the title of a Ray Bradbury short story, Travis. Like others in this series, I just let the title remind me of something from my youth and wrote about it. Glad you liked the video. Scott

Now that’s Entertainment I just love the melodies and all the hummy bits and pieces in the music… never a dull moment. The entire soundscape of the song is beautifully filled. As usual your vocal harmonies are on point. (Congrats to your back up singers) As for the video, I sorta remember someone saying something about your last one, I can’t remember who it was or what they said but man, you knocked this one out of the park. Cool ripple effect coinciding with the vocal effect around 0:42 and I like the idea of using different dissolves for each singer in the harmony section. That’s a great choice of effect for the hand close up during the keyboard solo and yes sir I was digging dem bubbles. I know this video stuff (timing, transition, effects, etc.) can be a pain in the ass but it’s all about movement and eye candy throughout, which you have definitely delivered, here. A Big Congrats 2 Ya And yes, I had to look up Rorschach... thx

Yep, Bud well remembers the era having made the obligatory trip to SF in ‘68. His 12 year younger wife was in grade school at the time Firstly, the video was very engaging. It added nothing that distracted from the arrangement and plenty that enhanced it. I appreciate the timing/editing that was involved. Secondly, the write and your vocal performance captured the period well - at least the more literate side of the period Nice mix also. Are those KRK’s in the background? We enjoyed it and Janice says the melody is still in her head! J&B

Scott,
I have nothing to add to the accolades--just had to stop in to say how much I enjoyed this tune and the video. Very awesome. It's really cool watching all the songs come together. Just great stuff!!
My humble regards, sir . . .

Vic It's from a Ray Bradbury short story - Vic. About a former shrink that would wear a shirt with a Rorschach design and ask people what they saw. Was actually a good story. Thanks! Scott

Hey Scott,
Oh yea, I heard this'n in a different forum and loved it there too. That psychedelic era "was" so much fun--fashion & music-wise. I do remember seeing all the bands wearing the matching suits then wham! Things began changing very rapidly along with several avenues of music & fashion. So much contrast--drove the old folks crazy!
Scott this is musically/lyrically so good, and you're performance as always the icing on the cake.
