I thought I'd do a little pop country. Not as easy as I thought it would be. And before anyone else mentions it "Wandering Hands" has already been suggested as an alternate title. :-) Comments and suggs welcome. Good idea..I like the music and melody .maybe have a female vocalist with the guy looking over her shoulder at sports on TV, or sweet young waitress....the shoulder line doesn't work so well with a cell phone.
Could be a man singing she looking at the construction worker, [naughty word removed]-less outside, or new bartender sleeve up to reveal bulging biceps and tattoo. Not too many new country tunes start with the chorus.
I see v2 as bridge material Cheers!

I liked the unexpectedness of the chorus, I thought the first you got, was gonna lead into it but you kind of changed the timiing
I thought it was good, maybe changing the lyric a bit, I think there maybe too many wandering eyes in the chorus
Nice job

Nice bouncy beat. I think starting on the chorus is a good idea as it's more upbeat. I particularly liked: I'll say baby keep looking but not at me. I don't think it sounds like modern pop country , but I enjoyed it!

Vic,
I like Verse 1 - interesting lines. And the feel of the song is terrific - fun - enjoyable to listen to.
The overall storyline made me wonder "Why does this guy stay?" "What is one more chance for?".

Hi Vic:
Enjoyed everything about "Wandering Eyes!" Your intro was a sort of "hook" on it's own. Nice touch starting out with Vocal Harmony. As always, your clever lyric and bright melody provide the perfect platform for your singing style. Best of luck with it. ----Dave

Hi Vic.
This is very unique. The melody has a Buddy Holly feel--maybe Buddy getting together with Jimmy Buffet and doing some "Island Music." I think you could even take this song a little more Caribbean with the production--might be fun! The song sticks with you, and definitely interesting lyrics--I like it!

Hi Vic The chorus was excellent but it slightly lost momentum in the opening verse, which i felt could have been a stronger melody. Having said this the lyric is good and there's plenty of repetition in the chorus. Good sound vocal too John

Thank you, Fdemetrio. Well, the reason for so many wandering eyes was that I read somewhere that for a pop song, repetition was the thing. Glad you liked it though.

Hi Rainy day man. Thanks for the comment. You're probably right about it not being pop country. I never was good at genres. I suppose it could be almost any genre with suitable arrangement.

Just call it Americana -- that genre includes about everything we and many others like and is becoming more and more popular with award shows, etc. I've noticed that the music libraries are now using the term when looking for film/tv/advertising music. Adding it as a hashtag would likely increase plays. But perhaps that's not a popular word in Europe nowadays We really enjoyed the song. No problems here with the chorus start. It works. We like the mandolin -- Andy playing...we presume. Eddie's Buddy and Jimmy remark was very thoughtful...yeah! J&B

Good Americana tune with an upbeat vibe. Reminds me a bit of Greatful Dead.
I thought the music was really well done, and the vocals are pretty good. The feel of the song is nice.
Production-wise it's pretty good, too. You might want to see if you can add some gentle highs to the vocals, and take a wee bit of thump off the kick drum to make it even better.
I liked it!
Peace, TC

fj Well I don't know about some people but break ups always seem to break down gradually. We always assume the next day will be better. Hmmm! "Break ups and break downs". I feel another song coming on. Thanks again, Vic

Ed. Thank s for the encouragement. I know that you are a fan of the Beatles and other 60's bands so I appreciate your appreciation of earlier times.

Hi Travis. Thanks for having a listen. Are you sure you meant the melody, because the 1st and 2nd verses are the same melody?

Hi Janice & Bud Americana sounds Ok, although I thought that tag only applied to songs related to American things. Thank you for that.

Vic,
I hope you know I’m a big fan. The melody, production and hook all work for me on this one. I'm not one for trying to bucket things into genres--a song is what it is. Americana, country, folk, rock, whatever--as long as it's good, what does the genre matter, IMHO.
To be honest, though—and I hope I can be so—the lyrics on this one don’t quite click for me. I like that this kicks off with the chorus, but, to me, the plain meaning of the refrain “wandering eyes” suggests she’s checking out someone else—i.e., she’s looking at some one other than you.
If that was the intent, then I think the verses could better support that. If “wandering eyes” was intended as a more general statement as to lack of attention or focus, then I’d consider starting with the verses to establish that.
I hope that makes sense, Vic--and my feedback notwithstanding, I really liked what I heard.
With utmost regards,
Deej

Thank you TC. I took a little of the thump out of it on the Soundcloud version. Don't want to cause any headaches. :-)

Hi Deej. I appreciate an honest, constructive comment. Yes the idea is that he suspects she has eyes elsewhere and he's getting a little ticked off about it. Not sure how I could make it plainer without making the lyric bland. I'll have to dwell on it a while. Thanks for the nudge and the compliment.
