Hey guys,
I've developed a course about how to get gigs and did a free AMA (ask me anything) here:
Check it out if you've ever had questions about how to get gigs. Let me know if you have any specific topics you'd like to see covered, too - I'm gearing up to do another AMA!
Happy gigging, fellas!

I gather the free part is the questions and answers with him.
Gigs what is that? Very hard to find gigs these days.
I guess you could go into to a dying bar, and either suggest bar rescue tv show, or ask if they'd like to try something.
I did that a few times, but I found that playing live is not so much about playing and singing but entertaining. That's the key, I remember a bar owner handed me a bucket of tee shirts and said "here, figure out a way to give these away to customers"
I found it very hard, I'm like I spent a lot if time on my craft and playing and singing, but nothing on being an entertainer.
That's how stars cut their teeth, anybody can stand there and play
But gigs are drying up or maybe dried these days

I have an entire story about this if you want to read it. It is a riot and I have a review of the band's first gig at Madison Square Garden. I think that name I gave them was Older Than Dirt Band and it is a riot.

Back in the late 1990's I sent out over 5000 emails to basically every club in the known world - LMAO - I directed them to my website (I'm guessing one of the first EPK's) and added that they might as well hire me just to keep from getting more of these annoying emails .... I actually got a tour out of it --- After that you just have to produce.
Anyone that saw me when I retired and did some Street Jelly stuff knows I just noodled around a bit and was likeable.

Yeah,
How to make a living as a musician. Well first you solicit random people for $99, then you pay to play gigs around the country. Sorry for the sarcasm but you'll need to offer a lot more info upfront. Come in with a presentation, just as any decent band would do when trying to self book venues. Have a pitch at least. Something. You wouldn't approach a venue and say "Hey, I have this band and we will play for $1000. Any questions?" That's what you just did here. Not real effective. JPF has everything from beginners to Rock Hall of Fame winners, national touring artists playing large venues and winners of every local, regional, national and international awards given to musicians. We include #1 writers and artists, but we also include a lot of people struggling to get gigs. So you've hit the right target, but your pitch/approach is terrible and unlikely to inspire confidence in your ability to teach musicians how to book good paying gigs. How about you sell yourself first and we'll go from there.
