Eagle's type thing nested in my head today...
"Ride 'Em Cowboy" Copyright 2017 M.Healey
They wanna take your boots And put 'em on a shelf A minute past you're gone They'll be on someone else It's time for you to go There's no one on your side Can't you hear the prairies knockin' They're callin you to ride
Ride 'em cowboy Race the wind You may never get this chance again Ride 'em cowboy Lead the breeze There's no limit-time is on it's knees
You don't need rememberin' Someone else can do the past When the hell hound's on your tail And your future spell's been cast The present's all you have Gotta do it on your own They're gonna leave you in the dust So saddle up-get go'n
Ride 'em cowboy Race the wind You may never get this chance again Ride 'em cowboy Lead the breeze There's no limit-time is on it's knees
He saw a sign that said forever Got to choose how he would die We all should be so lucky When we go for our last ride
Ride 'em cowboy Race the wind You may never get this chance again Ride 'em cowboy Lead the breeze There's no limit-time is on it's knees Ride 'em cowboy Ride 'em cowboy Ride 'em cowboy

This one reminds me a bit of the urban cowboy days. But he didn't have to wait long for his last ride as that nightlife fad was even shorter-lived than was the disco craze which preceded it. Another way of saying that life's too short to not live it to the fullest.

Hey Travis! Yes, America also. (name that horse!) I've been working on some music for the chorus but it's difficult to sound like a country rock band without the band. LOL. I appreciate your commenting! -Mike

Hey Mike,
Great read. This one feels like when country was country before it became pop. Well done.
Peace,
Dave

There was country pop long before the legend has it. Think of Marty Robbins with "El Paso" and some of Patsy Cline's pop oriented material. And the original country-rock act might have been the Everly Brothers. And you can go back even further to the heyday of the likes of Gene Autry and Red Foley. Of course that was before music became so categorized the way it is today.

Right again Beech; made me think how Rock and Roll "I'm Movin' On" (Hank Snow) sounded....
