please listen..... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewartFenwick Dubin © words and music by C. Stewart ( Oct 2017 )
Incognito as a Cuban No one knew what he was doin'
Smokin' stinky big cigars Driving 1950 cars
All around the tiny little island Fenwick Dubin, he was always smilin'
CHORUS...... He was creeping into society Sleeping with a variety Of woman, with Brillo pad hair
Fenwick was unorthodox Wore electric bobby sox
And thick black glasses for the glare They hardly knew he was there
All around the tiny little island Fenwick Dubin, he was always smilin'
Fenwick Dubin You have been so bad So bad
Incognito as a human Fenwick knew what he was doin'
He cut the skin from her throat Dumped her body in the boat
Took her for a ride around the island Fenwick Dubin, he was always smilin'
He was creeping into society Sleeping with a variety Of woman, with Brillo pad hair

Calvin,
Interesting guy, I hope this is fiction.......is there a real Fenwick Dubin? You are always entertaining for sure--cool music. My only sug is to use plural on 1950 to 1950's. This has always been a familiar site in Cuba so I'm told having many cars from that era as we stopped exporting cars there in the early 60's. I wonder if that embargo was lifted? I would guess.

I thought of Ernest Hemingway at first, but then he turned into a potential serial killer...... Your creativity is astounding. I hope you created Fenwick from your imagination and he is not a real life friend of yours. There probably is a real Fenwick in south Florida somewhere. Nice job!

HI Calvin, Images like "He was creeping into society/Sleeping with a variety/Of woman, with Brillo pad hair" tells us the guy is some kind of serialist, lol, and we find out soon enough what kind he indeed is! This is as surreal as the best Russell Edson writing, whose prose poems seem to exist in the same world as much of your writing (if anything, read "Ape" by him, you'll love it). The music as usual matches the lyric and makes this another classic. Loved it! Mike

Calvin,
As I hear more of you offerings I’m struck by the originality of your lyrics—really, just constantly they are fresh, intriguing. You just want to keep listening to see where things go. No exception here.
Out of curiosity, do you write beyond just song lyrics? If you should choose to loose that imagination on other things, I’d be the first on line to check it out.
All the best,
Deej

Calvin, As you know, I'm a fan and once again you did not disappoint. I love how you bring these interesting little characters to life in your songs. You have a gift for arranging furniture just right, so that we can really see them. I enjoyed this one! Great work Paul

HA! I mis-read the title and thought it was Fenwick Dublin...and then your post was all in green...I thought you were getting your St Patrick's Day post in early...Boy was I surprised once you started singing! Moving on...another member of Calvin's Cast of Misfits and Miscreants, not as lovable as some but still songworthy. Clever and sinister, Calvin and I have to ask...just how incognito is a Cuban? Ricki

Hello Ricki, Happy St Patrick's Day :-) Good to see ya girl ! Thanks a bunch. You ask - HOW incognito is he at being a Cuban, well, in the last verse you'll see that FENWICK is an alien, so to be a CUBAN is VERY MUCH incognito. Calvin http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Damn it Calvin. Glad to know your Fenwick isn't real. You had me googling "Fenwick Dubin". Looking for a story of a Jekyll & Hyde type loose on the island of Cuba. Nicely done

Was Fenwick a former mob assasin hired by the Nixon adminstration to take-out Castro?
I ask b/c Fenwick Dubbin does not sound like a Cuban name.
I believe this song is related in some way to the overalls tune.
As usual, creative, fun and wacked. You are the mack daddy of this kinda stuff.

Hi Calvin,
Well, the way you combine descriptions together makes for original stories such as this! What a name, Fenwick Dubin! I especially like the visual of women with Brillo pad hair! LOL Very entertaining!

Man, could someone ever have fun creating a video for this. On the other hand perhaps the imagery is vivid enough as is Weird? yep, ultimately a bit scary? yep, creative? hell yeah!! We enjoyed it in a weird scary way! J&B

Well that was pretty cool and creepy. The music gave it away that this was going to go dark, but when you got to "cut the skin from her throat" it was still pretty shocking. Definitely off the beaten path. Nice work!
