A story of two songwriters in Heaven finding out they finally have a hit song on Planet Earth and ask God for a pass to go back and enjoy the fruits of their labor... Sittin' in the departure lounge The train rolls into the station I board take a seat wonderin' What's the final destination One by one we made our way home Went through the gates and checked in We saw each other and we both said Long time no see how have you been Chorus We put in years of fishin' But no one ever took the bait Being posthumously famous All I can say is oh that's just great Catchin' up over a cold one We're listenin' to a small radio Hey Chet yeah Barry hear that song One we wrote a long time ago We smile and laugh say we always knew Someone was bound to cut our song Can't enjoy the adulation And somehow that just feels all wrong Chorus We put in years of fishin' But no one ever took the bait Being posthumously famous All I can say is oh that's just great So we ask big boss for a pass To enjoy the accolades Like to get to soak it in Before time's up and the fame fades Boss says sure you both have earned it I'll give you a week pass have fun But here is home where you belong So enjoy your time in the sun Chorus We put in years of fishin' But no one ever took the bait Being posthumously famous All I can say is oh that's just great Bridge Take our wings off put on our suits Head down to meet our destiny Sorry guys but since you're both gone We can't pay you a royalty Extended End Chorus Well guess you could say that figures Fame and fortune wasn't our fate Being posthumously famous All I can say is oh that's just great We put in years of fishin' But no one ever took the bait Being posthumously famous https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GazDUU1-9fU Here is the song.
