V A cold autumn morning looking out to sea there was just driftwood, dog walkers and me Don't know why I stood there alone on that beach I suppose the dark wide ocean was like Jo wild and free V Saw a ship sailing 'till it was out of sight hands and ears frozen two dogs started to fight Put my hands in my pockets collar up from the wind Love to one day tell our story In a song I'll write C Gamblers don't know when to quit drunks won't stop until they're sick A lover can't let go, could be beaten with a stick And keeps going back for more Seems there's no end to it B Up to my neck the tides coming in I'm lashed to a whipping post it'd be a blessing if I was drowning Some fool cuts me free - she's a ghost V I head to town to find a small Caffè sit with a tea or two think a hour away We used to come here often before she left me then come back, left again Where she never says

A great start on this one, Travis. It sets a gravitating mood right from the start. Agree with Neil that the "Jo" reference in V1 seems obscure lacking additional context. Really like the chorus; for the "lovers" line, "beaten with a stick" could work, but I'd maybe got with something like: "A lover can't let go, like an addict for a fix, keeps going back for more." Just a thought.
Regards,
Deej
