Another thread reminded me of a lyric I wrote last year. Gave it a scrub and here it is....
"I'm My Biggest Fan"-Copyright 2017 M.Healey
Intro I got talkin' to my neighbour He was new to this address "I said that Martin guitar, does it take you far?" Ever played with some of the best? And he said with a wink, you know I like to think I've had me my share of success
Last night I played with Willie Tonight it's the Paisley band Never been too good So when I play a chord I should I give myself a big old hand Oh I'm my biggest fan, I'm my biggest fan I don't need to grace the Opry stage To know just who I am I'm me-my biggest fan, Still my head's alright-it's screwed on tight Never gonna get too big Playin' livin' room gigs At least not till tonight!
I don't have me a fancy tour bus Someone sayin' who I am But I'm still a big cheese With my guitar and CD's Good God I'm a happy man
Oh I'm my biggest fan, I'm my biggest fan I don't need to grace the Opry stage To know just who I am I'm me-my biggest fan, Still my head's alright-it's screwed on tight Never gonna get too big Playin' livin' room gigs At least not till tonight!
Bridge I feel sorry for the big boys Never can go where they please When time is money Everybody gonna want a piece Now I don't have that problem It's hard to understand Still a song's a gift-and I know this Credit to the boys in the band
Oh I'm my biggest fan, I'm my biggest fan I don't need to grace the Opry stage To know just who I am I'm me-my biggest fan, Still my head's alright-it's screwed on tight Never gonna get too big Playin' livin' room gigs At least not till tonight!
Tag: Last night I played with Paisley Telecastin' best I can And like next door...Oh I'll be back for more Cause I'm my biggest fan Oh I'm my biggest fan.....

This strikes a fun tone and I think it would get crowds moving. In the bridge, I am not sure I get the meaning of the line, "It's hard to understand"...I have my ideas....though it could be a good place for another visual of him not having that problem he mentions. Just an idea. Great rhythm in the lines.

Well my thinking there, (which I'm sure you thought) was the celebrity/musician's life has a downside and this guy didn't have to worry about that! I did want to say that I appreciate you taking the time to read and suggest. Thank you Kristi! -Mike

9ne,
There's a lot of truth here, and the lyrics capture the pure joy of playing music (even when we know we ain't so good). I'm guessing a few tweaks on the lyrics as you set it to music, perhaps. But, anyways, I'll look forward to hearing it.
All the best,
Deej

Nice post Deej! Tweaks? I've never been precious about lyrics. I'll change anything to suit the music, including changing, dropping, adding, words etc. I've noticed MP3's here and elsewhere that, (rather than edit) try to fit everything into a line. Thankfully we have critics that aren't afraid of pointing things out. Thanks again! -Mike
