Well I have zero patience to listen to the radio these days. I find it to sound all the same, and not do anything for me.

I think there is an element missing, it's called vibrancy, I don't hear hear it In today's pop music.

But, simplicity has been ariund forever....

I wanna hold your hand!

How bout the Ramones?

For anger look no further than the sex pistols, nirvana, most grunge music of the 90's. It probably all comes from there

I think the music today lacks adventure and a sense of "this is the most important thing to be said ever"

I think today music doesn't need to be great because it serves a different function in today's world, "it's something to do while I'm doing something else"

It's not the main dish any more, I think that's why it's like it is

Eventually, the "Musical Merry Go Round" will work it's way back toward better melodies, civility and tonal beauty. I probably won't be around to hear it... but would wager it will happen.

Interesting article, Mike. Thanks for sharing. ----Dave

i agree that "simple" music has been around forever and some great songs were in fact simple chord structures, nothing new there. But i do think if you get out of the "POP" realm, there is some great music.

I think that article is click bait! I agree that the stuff on commercial radio is unlistenable though

Brian posted this video about a two chord song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ToRIUoXmIw

Excellent video. It's a video to throw into th Band in a box thread.

Music is more than just finding a riff to use out of a library.

If you wrote this song, you could not achieve these results using band in a box, it takes a great team to bring the whole thing home.

It's a lesson for all diy projects. The whole song is the art, not just your vocal or your lyrics. Even a single guitar part contributes to the emotion of the song.

Love Fleetwood mack
