On Rubber Road ( Neil Cotton) https://www.reverbnation.com/neilcotton/song/29118303-rubber-roadThe sun was setting on that stretch of black Quarter mile of side road was our track The air got hot when big blocks revved A challenge to see whose muscle’s the best Ten cars paired up only one would brag No cops in sight hey man let's drag The Beer the smell of burning Rubber All hearts thumpin like rollin’ thunder Rubber Road, that was then this is now In my head I still hear the sounds Of street rods roarin' on Rubber Road Screeching and smokin’ on Rubber Road A Chevelle SS beat a Mustang Shelby A Cutless lost to a ‘Cuda Hemi Motorcycles raced some of the time The Camshaft post was the finish line Rubber Road, that was then this is now In my head I still hear the sounds Of street rods roarin' on Rubber Road Screeching and smokin’ on Rubber Road Instrumental to verse Sure as Monday followed the Sabbath Sirens screamed we would all scatter Rubber Road, that was then this is now In my head I still hear the sounds Of street rods roarin' on Rubber Road Screeching and smokin’ on Rubber Road Helluva show on Rubber Road

Neil,
This is a cool little tune. I saw this one the Lyrics 3 forum but didn't have a chance to comment before it went live. No matter, I think the lyrics are great. Maybe revisit the last two lines of the second verse--e.g., "The beer the smell of burning rubber" and the line that follows could maybe be tighter. And not sure I get the first line of the bridge . . . but I love, love the third verse.
From a production standpoint, the revving motors are an awesome touch (how do you do that?), though perhaps a bit too strong at the end of the first chorus. Give it a listen and see if you agree (I am more often wrong than I am sometimes right!)
Keep working this one--it's a winner.
Best regards,
Deej

Deej Deej thanks very much for your help. I will revisit this keeping your points in mind. The first line of the bridge is instead of the cliche "As sure night follows day" Re the sound fx search....there are some that are free for download Or I find them, play and record thru a mic. The add to the mix

Unfortunately, Soundclick is having a hissy fit so I'll come back later for the audio. I'm not a motor head but just looking at the lyric, this is really visual...I can almost smell the burning rubber. I thought maybe in the chorus, if you rearranged some lines, it might flow better? Since I can't hear the music I don't know that this would even work.
In my head I still hear the sounds Of street rods roarin' on Rubber Road Screeching and smokin’ all aroound that was then this is now on Rubber Road
I'm also wondering, since in the chorus you say "that was then this is now", maybe the tag line could be better utilized by picking up on that thought of looking back. Maybe a fade out with spoken words like:
Can't go over 30 Pavements all torn up now Don't go that way anymore But it was a helluva show Down Rubber Road
Anyway, just some thoughts.
Ricki

I hope the soundclick works better...just posted a slight remix. Thanks for your time and input I never thought of an outro like that. Can't go over 30 Pavements all torn up now Don't go that way anymore....... My initial reaction is that it brings the tone/spirit of the song down. Will think on it.
