A 2:46 hoedown!

It sounds good, and it's a catchy tune. The production is excellent.

From an arrangement point of view, I felt that the fiddle was overly busy and stepped on the vocals too much. I like the bass but felt it could have come down in the mix a bit. You could still have it be very dominant without it being quite so loud.

The guitar was top notch, like in your other tunes - is this you playing the guitar licks?

Really well done overall. Nice job.

If it has strings I will find a way to play it!

I liked my listen a lot. Really upbeat and great vocals. Agree pulling back on that fiddle might be something to consider--but just a tad as it's really what makes the song fun, at least for me. Good stuff!

Best regards,

Hey Ronnie,

Loved this upbeat Bluegrass tune. I think TC hit the nail on the head, however with Bluegrass we expect "busy" fiddles/banjos/mandolins/guitars--but agree with his assessment--more pulling back creating some fiddle beds & movement needed in spots.

In my mind, it could be more of an volume & panning automation challenge with the fiddle. Typically, I like hearing the fiddle coming forward with naturally solos and key "answers" following the key vocal phrasing. Bluegrass recordings, think live with movement......having the fiddler coming forward then fading back and maybe even bringing/fading in a "dup" section near center for spots or automate that or both. I would also bolster the presence of the harmonies--its Bluegrass! You might place that harmony into the mix R about 40% opposing the fiddle which sounds about 70% left. I'm listening with headphones BTW, I think headphones are a good reference for establishing panning. Of course this is JMO--use or lose!

More importantly, what a great song! Great vocal tone with Darcie--let her shine more with some more upfront harmonies!

Enjoyed this'n Ronnie,

What a fun tune! I don't know anything about production but it had me chair dancing! And it reminded me that when we first met, my husband and I worked at the same place. We called in "sick" to our respective bosses but only a few times because after a while, too many people knew that we were dating and it became way too obvious. smile

At first, I thought since the line that stands out the most is "tomorrow is another day" or "another day", that it should be the title, but it's way too common and been done to death so I see the wisdom of Back To Bed. Catchy, as is the whole song. Well done.

I really enjoyed this one!
Very universal message and a great production!
My only thought is that the tune is upbeat and lively, it made me wanna jump outta bed and dance!
But it didn't make me wanna go in to work tongue
No critique otherwise, I thought the mix was right on.
You've got a great voice too.

Thanks for sharing!

Sorry about that.
I don't want to offend Darcie now and should probably just leave well enough alone but it sounded to me like a guy with a high voice. It makes me think of John Denver's voice a little and the tune also makes me think of John Denver (Thank God I'm a Country Boy, to be specific). I hope that I did not offend you or Darcie with my comments. I am really just trying to say that I really like your song. Of course, now that I know better, I know it's a girl and that is all I hear now.

I hope you get that ;-)

Thanks again for sharing,

Oh, She's mad now.

Actually Darcie moved away years ago and I've lost touch. This tune was done back in 2001-2002.

My greater crisis now is no good male singers for the backlog of "only a male could sing this" songs. And while I can sing ok, I don't have not a good "singing voice".

I hope you are able to find a singer pretty soon because I really do like your music.
Your productions are very tight and polished, so I know you would not settle for a mediocre singer.

If you are open to collaborating remotely, there are options for getting singers to work with. Nowadays, we are getting more and more used to the absence of facetime. Skype can be very helpful that way. Fiverr.com has singers offering their services at an hourly rate. I've never tried them but it's there for the trying. I once found an online singer on BandHub.com and she sang a song that I collaborated on with a girl from the UK. The singer Melita Levstek was from Ljubljana, Slovenia and although all three of our timezones were vastly different, we managed to put together a pretty cool recording. She did it for free, just for the love of singing. If I had made any money on it, I surely would have paid her but it was mainly just for the fun of it.

Anyhow, I just wanted to mention that there are lots of online options out there.
I hope you find someone soon.

Nice meeting you Ronnie!

The next installment will be the guys. Two singers from the south found on vocalizr.com.
It was an adventure but they're both better than me.

As weird as this might sounds, it works for finding a good local singer. Go to a local karaoke night and hang out. Lots of talented singers, with great voices can be found that way. I know a guy here that has found lots of singers that way.
