Travis loves a bit of Irish and recently sent me a lyric to work on.
Some words may be a little difficult to grasp unless you are Irish or UK based.
A "bed sit" is a cheap rented room. "Fecking" is a mild expletive of Irish origin, with no known connection to the more offensive word, recently much used in UK sitcoms "Mrs. Brown's boys" and "Father Ted".
"Gobshite" is an Irish term for a person who talks crap.
This was fun to do.

v1
Blind drunk again in Paddington D
a trail of pizza paves the street
Passers by roll their eyes
as he fights to remain on his feet
Fell out with a Aussie barman
at a Kilburn watering hole
Gobshite wouldnt give him credit
Tomorrow's when he draws his dole

Shoves his hands deep in his pockets
all he's feeling are the seams
Slinking off alone and broke.
Dreams he'll get back home again.
Drawn toward a mirror's gleam,
he sees the look of emerald green
v2
Left his home town years ago
Heard London was the mother load
Digging ditches, washing dishes
Never found the streets of gold
Now he's in his lousy bed sit
Bugs climb up the fecking walls
On radio Eiriann, Christy sings and
takes him back to Annascaul

Mammy dear, my stomach's shrunk
Dreams of riches all have sunk.
Tries to salvage what remains
of pizza flushing down the drain

Well done, you two!

Thanks for the explanation(s) regarding the Irish vernacular, Vic. Yep, Travis seems bent toward the folks over there near Glockamoora, doesn't he? LOL! Loved the story line and the melody. It's a "Ten" to me and I'd love to have had a front row seat to this toe tapping performance. Happy New Year, Gaelic Duo! ----Dafydd ap Sior

Being honest , lyric is great , for me the words get lost in the tempo. (given the lyric is not visible in a performance.)

Travis & VIc,

This is a well-told story that is delightful to listen to! The lyric is filled with details that brought me right into his world. I like the hope of “the look of emerald green” and the music has a kick to it that complements the story wonderfully. Enjoyed this! Great job!

Kristi

Not sure that the pizza reference fit in? But it's still a fun toe tapper for this (late) morning after! Well done, Vic and Travis.

Hi Ricki.
Well, in the UK it's pizza, curry, kebabs or chips that decorate the late night reveller's streets.
I expect in the US they have something slightly different but it's still a mess.
Thanks for listening.
