https://soundcloud.com/m_glenn_m/tired-wingsThis is a compilation of random conversations and events tied together for the sake of a song. Here in BC, Canada we have a lot of marriages just hanging together or worse due to difficult work arrangements. EG women with kids and a local job and a mate working far away and returning sometimes only every few weeks. This song tries to get to the discontent of that arrangement. I hope you like it. Very simple structure, a guitar, bass and vocal at this point I don't care who sold the house Your realtor or mine But now we both can fly away. And let our tired wings unwind They move in this evening So we really must be done Susan says she'll take the cat she thinks it might be fun Chorus 1 Tell Leana daddy loves her but my flight is not until 9 Yes I know I'm late again On tired wings I'm flying John agreed to keep the kayak Until you find a home Joseph said he'd take the dog so it won't be left alone Can you get the photos from our little yellow box Only you can do this I noticed it's always locked Chorus 2 Tell Leana daddy loves her and that everything is fine We were always here and there on tired wings of time

I think music and the mood match...maybe have a bit more contrast between the verse and chorus. Not a biggy...I have seen this sad series of events , as you say, too often.

Loved the vocal, (and your harmony) The music was good but it seemed like there was some processing on the guitar I didn't care for. I DO think the verse lyrics could be upgraded as they don't seem to be on the same emotional level as the chorus. A suggestion for the last chorus:
Tell Leana daddy loves her And that everything is fine I will always get there Long as tired wings can fly

Beautifully simple. I don't think you need to up the intensity in the chorus. The matter-of-fact, get-through-the-day detail is exactly how most of us deal with the most important things going on in our lives and your words capture that really well. There's a controlled desperation here that is moving because most of us know it well in some form or other. Keeping the emotion in check actually adds to its impact on the listener.
At least, that's how I see it. I really enjoyed listening to this.

Hi M_G_M:
I don't believe I've heard your songs before tonight. It is a sad subject and I think you told the story well. The simplicity of the production is good and the harmonies work just fine. I am "on the fence" about the control of emotions... but they can certainly be used to "sell the song" to your audience. I hope you'll continue to "explore" other versions of the song and, if there is a way to add more orchestration here and there... it might lead to more audience appeal. Thanks for sharing it with us and best wishes for musical success.
----Dave

Nice vocals Glenn,i really liked the story line and glad it wasn't a downer tune even though it was a breakup song. Mike

Glenn,
I really enjoyed this tune--cool production. How did you get Joe Walsh to sing lead for you? How awesome! Loved the title by the way, getting a great title can really make a difference in just one's initial perception.

Hi Glenn. You already had some good suggestions so I have nothing to add. First though, take that guitar down a few decibels and you'll be away.
