I don't understand nominees that aren't keeping close track of the process themselves to participate and communicate. The JPF site is for them and available 24/7 with information and a chance to ask questions and contribute to the sharing and learning that is so much more than awards. If the list of delinquent nominations is posted, the nominees can be responsible for checking the list and taking action. A deadline would be appropriate.

Yack Back!

Perry,

I don't want to "out" someone who may be innocent of doing anything wrong. From people having passed away (8 already) to the uselessness of email and social media to communicate (right now the average read rate industry wide of legit (as opposed to spam) email even being opened in 24%. JPF (who I bummed out about frankly) is twice as good with 49% of members opening our emails. But that still means we totally miss 50% on any issue. And of those that OPEN an email, rarely does anything read more than a paragraph. Usually they see the first point, fill in the blanks in their head about what the rest must say, and act accordingly. It's sad. It also explains that even when people respond to a request, only half of the half who respond follow even the most simplistic instructions. It's not just us, we're doing twice as good as the world, but even that makes it impossible to operate when we need nearly 100% compliance to make things happen on a shoestring budget using only volunteers.

We'll keep trying, but time keeps rushing by. I can only do what I can do.

Brian

And thanks for what you do Brian, you're a brave man.

I took a few serious life hits in the last two years, my lfe was quickly knocked back and shredded, but I still managed to find time to respond. Who knows what holds people back from doing as such, one can never really know.

I've found that in the past few years people don't respond to messages of any kind at ALL! Everyone is wrapped up in their own little world. BTW, HI everyone, speaking of being wrapped up in one's own little world!

Yeah, I finally gave up on them. We're trying to do it without their mp3s, it is proving trickier than I hoped, but we'll work it out eventually.

Update on the 2017 Awards: With Holiday season upon us, we haven't made progress since before Thanksgiving and won't until the new year. We're not really caught up in dates (release dates, or even awards year) rather we just want to honor some great music because sincere recognition without business or politics poisoning the results is rare today. We are all just volunteers and though in years past we were able to power through sheer force of will to hit deadlines, this time around and in "these times" it seems I have failed to push it through as timely as I had hoped. We'll regroup once people resurface and come out of their holiday requirements and finish up the voting and judging and choosing and then I hope to take one last shot at pulling together an awards gathering/show of some type. It's our chance to be in the room together to celebrate as a community all the collective talent of the nominees, top to bottom across such diversity and distance around the world. Though I apologize that I couldn't pull it off in 2017 as intended, I am just as proud to bring the positive attention to your collective music it so thoroughly deserves. Honest praise means something, Moving music lovers means something, whether commerce is involved or not, that is a separate and unrelated thing. Whether we call it the 2017 or the 2018 awards is irrelevant, it's a celebration and we'll get there. This happened once before in 2002 where we had to push the awards back to March 2003. People still call that one of their favorite musical events in their life. So stay tuned and we'll do our best and if we ask for help at some point, please consider offering up a little to get us across the finish line. Happy Holidays everyone!

Just Plain Quotes
"Sometimes reaching a goal earlier than planned is a great achievement. It shows you have worked hard, pushed ahead and made it happen. However, sometimes reaching a goal far past your original deadline, long after you wanted to complete it, and after the accolades you might once have gotten for the achievement are over, it is an even greater achievement. This shows you never gave up, due to adversity, deficit, criticism and those little life detours that end many dreams and goals. In many ways, this is a reason for even more pride!" -Brian Austin Whitney
