this was written a long, long time ago. I just heard it for the first time in ages and thought it was worth posting. Hope you like it. it's a guitar/vocal but I'm not sure much else is needed. http://www.numberonemusic.com/artdickerson/song/713880-A-Womans-TouchA Woman's Touch
Sun bakin the dust on my back and arms I rolled back the rocks and raised the barn Fenced off the fields for this country farm Laid ev'ry block in this tough old house But when I smelled her fresh rhubarb pie Saw her red hair aflame with the morning light I knew what I'd built finally felt right Cos wood and brick just ain't a home without A woman's touch to make it come alive Her sure and gentle hand to help it shine Like the warmth of the sun makes a spring rose blush Ev'ry house feels like a home with a woman's touch
I cracked four ribs ridin' junior motorcross Broke horses for my Daddy's boss Had scars on my face from gettin' tossed Ev'ry mark was a rough boys brand But the night her fingers floated cross my skin She rolled through my heart like a gentle wind With a silky whisper she took me in And this rowdy boy finally settled down with A womans touch she made me feel alive Her sure and gentle hand helped me to shine Like the warmth of the sun makes a spring rose blush Ev'ry man learns to love with a woman's touch God blessed us with a baby boy Couldn't hold back the tears of joy I know he'll be everything he can be with A womans touch she makes him feel alive Her sure and gentle hand helps him to shine Like the warmth of the sun makes a spring rose blush Ev'ry child learns to love with a woman's touch With a womans touch

Beautiful song. You're right, I think. It doesn't need anything more.

Thanks folks. Most of the credit goes to Art. As I recall, my meter was pretty lumpy in those days. He did a great job with the melody etc.

Beautiful song, Rob. There's more detail in these three minutes than there is in most full length albums.. Whatever lumps there may have been were gone with Art's rendering. Great work! Mike

Thanks Mike. I'm not exaggerating about my sloppy meter in those days. If you're sitting nose to nose with someone playing guitars and working out a groove while you write, your meter can read a little choppy. But if you're penning lyrics the old-fashioned way, for a composer to work on later, your meter has to be tight. I had to get a few bad demos back to realize I was the problem and needed to change my methods. That's the best advice I could give any writer.

Hi Rob and Art:
This is a beautiful work of art... and you are 100% correct... it needs nothing else to make it more inspiring or effective. That's a stunning vocal and I applaud you both for a successful song creation. So glad I took the time to enjoy a listen. ----Dave

This is just a pretty tune, beautifully written and performed. Just shows that sometimes simple and stripped is all a song needs. I wouldn't change a thing.
Regards,
Deej

I love the simplicity of it. The vocal was out front and easy to hear. Nice voice and playing too. Very nice.

Nice!!! Great song, and production. Wish I had written it. Hey what kind of guitar are you using, and how did you record it? Is that a Shure SM-81 mic in front of the soundhole, or did you go direct? Great sound. I would like to know how you got it!! Awesome job man.

Thanks guys. David, it was recorded by the co-writer, Art Dickerson. It's an old song and I have no idea what he used to record it with. We don't actually keep in touch much anymore. Thanks for your interest, though.
