Michael,
This one’s a keeper. Can’t recall if I chimed in on the Lyrics 3 board, but I did read the lyrics there and liked where this was heading. I’ll offer up two things for thought:
First, when the song kicked off, my initial reaction was that the tempo was a bit too fast; that said, I adjusted after the first few lines, and it seemed fine after that. So, not sure—maybe play around with slowing the song down a little bit to pull out and accentuate the vocals (particularly as I like your voice, and slowing things down will accentuate it).
Second, and also a suggestion, in the second and third verse, maybe think about differentiating the vocal melody of the third line from the first line by going up a bit on the third line—just to add some variety and emphasis. Not sure what I wrote makes sense, but if I were singing this tune, it’s where I would tend to go vocally, for better or worse.
Again, this is well done, Michael. A good write and a cool listen.
Best always,
Deej

Hi Mike:
I always tend to read the lyrics as the song is playing and really enjoyed this one. When I hear a song-post and believe it has merit... I tend to wonder which artist would take it to the charts for you. Although I think it might be a bit of a stretch, I wonder how Alan Jackson might arrange and sing it for you? (Old men like me tend to "think out-loud" sometimes... so don't take anything personal... LOL!)
Thanks for sharing... and Merry Christmas... even though December has not arrived yet! All my best, ----Dave

Mike, it's good to see you're starting to get your mojo back! I kinda wonder about this line: it'll take a lifetime for it to please me It makes it sound like it will take a lifetime for their love to please him? That's would not be a good thing. Did you mean their love would please him FOR a lifetime? Maybe in an effort to make all the lines rhyme, the meaning got a little off track? Anyway, the rhyming shouldn't be as important as getting the meaning across, right? Keep working it! Ricki

thanks for the listen Ricki.I asked myself about this line when i wrote it,almost convinced myself it was wrong but it isn't.All it means,is he would be unhappy if it didn't last a lifetime. Mike

Hey Michael,
This is really great.
I am pretty sure this is just a soundcloud issue, but something on the acoustic guitar is making it a tad "watery"--I have had this happen to me before on soundcloud. You have to be careful with some effects on acoustic because when soundcloud tries to translate it in their compression process it get a little watered down. But that is just a TINY comment on an otherwise great song. Really Great.
What effect were you using on the acoustic by the way?

This has an Eddie and the Cruisers feel to it to me. Love your phrasing, you did a great job on this, vocally and musically, really enjoyed it!!

Cool song, I really like the way the lyrics/vocals move forward almost breathlessly at times.
Sounds pretty good but the bass is rather muddy/boxy sounding. Scooping some of the frequencies out in the low-mids should remedy this nicely.
You need to update your profile on Soundcloud with some kind of name instead of User 986218945! There should be an edit button towards the top right next to 'station' and 'share' - I know who you are but let everyone on soundcloud know, too.
I agree with Tammy on the phrasing, it really moves the song along.
Nicely done.
Peace, TC

thanks for your thoughts and visit,TC.Sometimes my ears fool me when i'm getting these songs together,my tinitus really messes with me.But thanks for point ing that bass out.And on the Soundcloud profile,i don't know what happened there, one day i was going to post a song and when i got through,it seems this "user number" thing happened.I don't need two, maybe i just need to delete that number one and reupload my songs to the other.Thanks. Mike
