Great! The melody and the performance are as gritty as the subject. Very catchy too.
As someone who "ain't from around here" originally, I'm constantly amazed by the way Americans pick themselves up after weather events. North America has the most violent weather patterns on earth and a population to match. The tone of the lyric captures that spirit really well.
I really enjoyed this.

David,
Nice opening riff—pulls you right in, last right through the song to keep the listener in. Cool guitar work layered in throughout. Great work.
Kind regards,
Deej

Good Morning, David: (...and Floyd, too)
I enjoyed "Grit" and agree with Vic. I listened with anticipation to hear Janice doing the backup singer thing she does so well... but, alas, these laptop speakers seemed to drown her in the noise. This is a fun song and is best heard after the sun begins to fade away... when the mind has cleared away the cobwebs of early morning.
Floyd's vocals are always top notch and you must have enjoyed doing this co-write with him. We've been missing his presence here at JPF along with Bud and Janice. These three talents really livened up the boards for a while and I'm hoping they are too busy doing a year's worth of bookings and gigs around the country. Thanks so much for sharing... and once more, "Welcome aboard, David!"
All the best, ----Dave

Hi David,
Love it.
Reminds me a bit bit of a modern Jerry Reed sound and attitude. Country-funk that's as good as it gets. Great lead vocal, amazing phrasing. The production/arrangement is wonderful.
Kudos to all involved!
Mike

Thanks Michael, Floyd, Janice and Bud are among my favorite people to work with. There is some Jerry Reed in here because that was my first instinct. Floyd and I laughed at my first guitar intro because it sounded way too much like Amos Moses. So we had to dial that back. Reed was an incredible guitar player. I am still trying to play Jerry's Breakdown at tempo. I start to fall apart around 160 BPM and I think he is at 220. He wasn't human. But, it's good practice at least!!!

Hey guys!
David, super write. Not sure if Dave, Floyd or Bud produced this song.......but just loved the tonation of everything--dead on! I felt like I was walking into a quality night club and hearing a great live band--you know the kind of band that's not just loud, but loud yet precise! Loved this.

Very nice! All aspects of the song sound good to me. I really like the Tele picking and a touch of dobro (?) sneaking in here and there.... Yes, the Jerry Reed sound is coming through.

Thanks Janice and Bud!
So nice to see you guys in this forum. Keep pumping out the hits now.
I could listen to Janice sing the words on the label of a shampoo bottle and I'd be happy. Every song she touches turns to gold.
Wait a minute, is that song????????

Floyd, I think maybe what we all need is a little more Grit.
True Grit.
Looks like the fire is burning right hot.
Whenever anybody asks me if a song is good, I say:
Well, hell is it burning or not burning?
If your song is burnin' you know it's on fire.
Ok, I got some more writing to do.
Adios.
