I actually released TWO new songs.
This is the other one. Hope you like it.
https://hoponpop.bandcamp.com/track/if-you-knew

LYRICS:
1.
I put on my outside smile
As I step out the front door
And Iíll admit that itís been harder
But I wonít say a whole lot more

If you felt the things Iím feeling
If you saw the things I saw
You would let me throw my cards out
Then let me draw, draw, draw, draw, draw

2.
I smile through the morning
And I grimace through the day
And Iíll answer all your questions
But I wonít have much to say

If you felt the things Iím feeling
If you knew the things I know
Please donít read too much in to it
Just let it go, go, go, go, go

(bridge/solo)

3.
These things I carry on my shoulders
They fit underneath my shirt
And they say it will make me stronger
But they donít say how much it hurts

If you felt the things Iím feeling
You just might never want to feel
If you lived the life Iím living
Itíd make you reel, reel, reel, reel, reel

If you knew the things Iím knowing
Thereís things youíd never want to know
But please donít read too much in to it
Just let it go, go, go, go, go
Let it goÖ

I liked it. A bit of Lightfoot vibe. The only thing I was looking for was either a modulation or a section where the vocal got more passionate, (louder?) as it was fairly even throughout. Enjoyable listen!

Sounds good, PopTodd. This has a great feel to it...kind of Americana-ish. I enjoyed my listen.

Nice sounding song, and well performed.

It sounds complete and polished except I thought the snare was too thin, the guitar solo could have sounded a bit warmer EQ-wise. The way the guitar licks are EQ'd during most of the song works well to fit it in with the other instrumentation but during the solo it could have used a tad more 'body'.

The lyrical content is really good, and I thought that the repeated words at the end of the sections was a great idea. I especially liked the metaphor in the first part (referring to cards/poker).

Overall, an excellent effort!

Peace,
TC

If it has strings I will find a way to play it!

Tod,

Got here a bit late, but glad I did! This is real nice. Not sure if you've made any adjustments concerning sugs. But I like the snare tone as I'm hearing it and liked the "military" effect--I like a snare to crack a bit, yet still have a slight bottom to it. There is a tendency with modern pop to crack the snare more than the old days--each of us may have preferences, so go with what you like! I did think the cymbal crashes were a little out front more than I'd prefer and could use a little longer reverb tail--again we will all never agree on those types of nuances. It's cool to hear other opinions on these details however, as sometimes a slight tweak or compromise pleases more ears perhaps.........

Well done demo, nice production, but more importantly, nice melody, performance and lyrics.

I enjoyed this very much. A nice cool understated vibe to it and really nice lyric that feels effortless because of all the effort that's gone into making it as tight as it is. Glad I found this.

Actually, this isn't a demo, this is the completed track that I will be releasing (or, rather, have already released). So, suggestions will be taken into consideration as a learning experience for my next recording. They always are. I learn a lot from you guys.
I really appreciate y'all listening to it and all of your suggestions. I think that I have become a better producer thanks to you all.
And I appreciate all of your kind words, too.
(That's a lot of appreciation.)
