Yeah just saw this. Melissa Etheridge, a great rocker, covered his Refugee which was a wonderful surprise when I heard it.
Into The Great Wide Open Tom...and thank you

Three Wilbury's done Travellin'... Shocking really.... I initially had the same thought....But then adjusted it to Three Wilbury's have Traveled on, and keep on Traveling. I hope the other two take their own sweet time before joining them...But I'm selfish that way:-) Dang, whatever trains roll on through heaven, I hope I can eventually find my way to this one--"End Of The Line": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwqhdRs4jyAMidnite

Not official, but doesn't look good either. All the reports I've read conflict.

He Died.....66 is way too young to die of a massive heart attack....But he gave us such great songs. He was a true singer songwriter.

R.I.P Petty. Another reason rock music is pretty much dead along with all these beloved icons. Why are so many famous people dying in mass amounts anyway? Anyone come up with a particular theory behind this yet??

I guess their work is done here and God is calling them home. We are only promised a life not how long it will be. Some l a few years and others die as old men. Jesus only lived 33 years. It's a miracle that we were born in the first place so we just have to accept the plan...

Why are so many famous people dying in mass amounts anyway? Anyone come up with a particular theory behind this yet?? The longer you live and follow popular culture the more famous people will be on your radar. So in simple terms people over 50 will be affected by more celebrity deaths than someone under 20. Also, chances are that most of the celebrities dying now will have been big in the 1960s/1970s

Poor Tom didn't get the typical send off for being the brilliant artist that he was due to the shooting in Las Vegas the same night But, if you listen closely, you can still hear him on supernatural radio... How many know this tune, off of one of my favorite albums, and one of his most underrated, the movie was...meh so so Great song,,, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IgylbB9Jo7Y

R.I.P Petty. Another reason rock music is pretty much dead along with all these beloved icons. Why are so many famous people dying in mass amounts anyway? Anyone come up with a particular theory behind this yet?? Yes, it's called VERY HARD LIVING. Any one in rock music through the 60's, 70's and 80' were exposed to huge drug and alcohol lifestyles (not nessasarily abuse but just around it all the time) hard lives on the road, constant rigors on the body, unbalanced lives, just the stress of life in that era. Also, in those days smoking was very prevalent, so again, the health issues would be passed on that would show up now. So it is only normal, they would reach this age and many of them, Henley, Bowie, etc. would be passing away right about the same time. It wasn't that long ago that almost all the rock stars, Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Cobain, died at 27. Amazing anyone lives a lot longer than that actually. I guess 66 has become the new 27. Coming from that era and being around that business a lot, many of my friends and contemporaries have gone through similar issues with health. We all came from the "Live hard, live fast, leave a good looking corpse" mentality. MAB

Yeah and the ironic part is it SHOULD be a easy life. All the best, personal chefs, personal trainers, top doctors, but they choose to abuse themselves. Bruce is one of the few legendary rockers who actually takes care of himself. They guy is 68 and he can do 50 push-ups on cue. And this is a guy who plays 5 hours some nights I didn't know Tom was so sick, I guess nobody did, they say his last concert killed him http://radaronline.com/videos/tom-petty-before-death-pain-depression/

Hey Bugsey,
I wish that I could say welcome back, but that would be hypocritical of me.
JPFer's?
Fdemetrio is Bugsey, is TrentB , is Ben Jones, is half a dozen other anonymous members....
I've PM'd him many times, offering an olive branch to just come clean...Nothing but a branch full of thorns and lies has come back.
And now he's back again......sigh...
Why does that piss me off? Because these Forums have a certain amount of integrity to them. We basically know who we're dealing with, and we often disagree, as most families do, but at least we know who we're talking to:-)
But when one Troll, who has signed up under at least 9 different names keeps crashing in, often responding to one of his other anonymous names' posts, then that integrity, that "trust", is broken...And that hurts everyone.
Ya'll know that I basically stick to the General Forum these days, ie: The Telethon II thread....Please feel free to check it out and join in on the fun:-)
But please, don't Troll the rock & roll!!!!
Midnite

I don't know who the bugsey is, but your already holding the board up. If you had left yesterday, u'd only have 364 days to go, but you are still here
It would require a post from the chief stating that you were kicked off the forum for bothering real songwriters and musicians, because that is all you know how to do.
and then there's always a possibility of collusion, where you get a new name and wait in the shadows
Let me ask you a question, how much have you donated? Why do you appear on a songwriting forum when you don't write songs? Or play music. Nobody but you seems to care who your enemies are
Scratches head

I know, I know, don't feed the Troll... I'll be done after this response.... Bugsey can scratch his head 'til his brain bleeds. Anyone can find me, Midnite Bob at the link that follows: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=1085431But hey, Bugs, let me ask YOU a question. How much did you contribute to last year's telethon that allowed you to join up again & again & again under various names? How many names did you re-sign up under once you could? To answer your question as far as how much I've donated? Last year? $100 and umpteen hours, not only with the Telethon but with the JPF Awards. This year? Umpteen more hours tracking down JPF Award Nominees from all over the globe, at all hours day and night....I will PM you the spreadsheet if you want. Every minute was worth it!!!! This year? I'll toss in as much $$$ as I can afford to for the Telethon... But enough about boring ol' me....Tell us more about your various selves.... Midnite
