DESERT FLOWER

c2017 Brian Beecher

From the sands of Arizona
She arrived in the big town
Good at hiding her emotions
All she wants is solid ground

Folks she met had tried to warn her
That she’s doing the wrong thing
Pick up and run even faster
When she went on her latest fling

She was called the desert flower
But her true self would never bloom
What she did with her emotion
Was to call men to her room

Hoping to make real change happen
Went with a man who said “you’re mine”
Soon she knew she had to struggle
To let go of the ties that bind

Desert lady she was in trouble
Jealous man with hands of steel
Cuts throughout her entire body
When she could no longer feel

She was called the desert flower
But her true self would never bloom
What she did with her emotion
Was to call men to her room
