I may be looking for sheet music and/or chord charts for some of my demoed songs. Any one know of a place or person offering this service at a reasonable price.

This post from a different forum I belong to might be helpful. I have no experience of working with her, just passing it along.

I'd check with some of the music schools Everett. I'm sure many music students are seeking ways to earn money for their expensive schooling.

Best, John wink

Thanks John. I've found one site that offers a very affordable price. Not sure how good they are, and not reading music, I won't know how it sounds until I get someone that reads music to play it. I don't know many people locally that play by note.

Hi Everett:

Not knowing exactly why you need sheet music or chord charts (they are seldom required these days during a song's infancy) but a few years back, there was a free program that allowed songwriters to create their own lyric/chord sheets as well as sheet music. Regretfully, my laptop plunged into oblivion and I cannot remember the source of the software. I tried it only once and it was pretty straightforward and uncomplicated, allowing you to print out your material once you completed the work required.

I'll ferret through some of my older computers and see if maybe I put a back-up on one of them... failing that, I'll explore other resources and see if I can find the information for you... if the organization behind it still exists.

Hopefully, someone else here at JPF will see your post and give you additional alternatives... or maybe the same source I will be trying to find.

Regards, ----Dave

CCLI may require it to get churches to use the songs. I can put my lyrics up on site but if someone wants to know how the songs goes, then CCLI will request a soundtrack and music sheet if available.

Hi Everett:

I finally found the notation software I mentioned earlier. It is called, "MuseScore" and I had it running on an old Windows XP Machine.

I did not confirm whether or not the website is still active but here is the link contained in their manual (which is included with the free, creative commons download): http://www.musescore.org

The owner or developer appears to be Werner Schweer and I'm assuming it originated in Germany.

Since I never actually got around to using it, I cannot guarantee it is the answer to your needs... but it appears to be. The version I have is version 0.9.4

Good luck... and if you obtain it and use it, please let us know if it met your needs and was fairly easy to use, etc.

Regards, ----Dave

Thanks Dave. Not sure if this is what I need. It looks like something that can create sheet music as you play it. If it can do that from a song on CD or hard drive being played through, that would be great, Must check further.

The cheapest is to ask only for a "lead sheet" which has only the melody, lyrics, and chords.
