Could title it "Bummer" or "Bummer Day"

During the night I realized I left my coffee on my piano (half full) next to my Mac keyboard. Don’t know exactly what happened, but it landed on the Mac keyboard – killed it. So I made the long trip to the Apple Store in Allentown only to be told they don’t make keyboards with USB ports any longer. And that the wireless won’t work on my prehistoric Mac. They consider anything longer than 5 years obsolete. Another bummer.
Fortunately, I figured out how to use my PC keyboard by using the Mac identifier. So it’s working now.

During Sandra’s Doctor visit (since it was across the street from ESSU), I decided to get some walking in on the college track. There was a steep hill I had to navigate first. Didn’t look too bad. As I started down I kept picking up more & more speed – too much for me to handle… I fell and slid down the hill the rest of way. Nobody noticed me (or didn’t want to get involved). Anyway, I continued to get my walking in. When I finished, I headed for the gate I came in at. It was chained. Maybe it wasn’t the same gate??? Bummer. I finally made my way back to the car.

Then I needed ubiquinol (for Sandra & I) and peanuts for the outside birds & squirrels. Drove to the store and when I got home I realized the date on the Ubiquinol was way past the expiration date, and the peanuts were nowhere to be found. Back to the store… The manager said “you sure these were bought today?” Of course they were I said. He did exchange them after making me feel like a shyster. Then I mentioned about the missing peanuts. He said he hasn’t heard anything about them. On the way out of the store I ask the man getting the shopping carts if he found peanuts in any of the carts. He did and set them aside. So everything there ended well.

Then after dinner while taking my vitamin assortment, all the vitamins tumbled on the floor (under the table). As I was getting up from under the table I whacked my head good on the table. Bummer.

So now I have a headache and waiting for the next bummer to happen.

Bummer John smile

Hey John:

Getting old is not for sissies... LOL! You described "My Typical Day" to a "T"!. My pill box runneth-over and it seems like I failed to account for the cost of Prescriptions and Health Food Pills in my master plan.

A song or composition is certainly warranted here and "Bummer" might actually work. An opportunity to "showcase" both Sad and Comical elements... maybe even a sprinkling of Anger here and there.

Sorry about the keyboard. Mac hardware is expensive but you might follow the trail several of us follow by slipping into a Goodwill or Boys and Girls Club Retail Outlet and find one if you hit them on the right day. You would be amazed at what you find in these places. People throw away some of the most valuable stuff. Downright crazy... or possibly, they are just too lazy to endure a yard or garage sale?

Maybe your string of bad luck is over? Thanks for sharing. It sure lets me know I'm not alone! ----Dave

Hey Dave! Don't know what it is. Maybe my age??? But, I only found humor in it all today. Funny how those bummer moments don't effect me much anymore. Maybe I'm losing it. Ha! laugh Though, I hope fate doesn't take what I'm saying as a dare. Looking forward to a non-eventful day tomorrow.

Best, John smile

Hey John,

Just so you know that yer not the first:-)

This was performed in 1980, and I mention that only to give some "perspective" on Lee Haye's opening comments, and not in any way desiring to bring in politics:-)

The band?
The Weavers.

The song?
My get up and go.

We ain't the first to enter what I like to call "The Gentle Years"...Somewhere, I am convinced, that there are markings on cave walls from millenias ago that had the same laments...

But for now, here come da Weavers:-)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuAUG-AxweQ

Midnite

P.S...I need to add this, if anyone cares to read it, because well, once you read it, you'll understand:-).....I spent 6 hours today in an "Assisted Living" establishment. It was in a bodunk town in the middle of almost nowhere...It was very well run, with WONDERFUL staff!!!! I can't say enough good things about the staff! I've worked in several of their "establishments", and am always left in awe!!! But for 6 hours today, the "residents", who were between the ages of 30 & 80 heckled and hassled me and had a jolly good time doing it...While in wheel chairs in the hallways, many of them "Vets".....AND I should add, my job is to run cables through ceilings to connect computers together for the offices. My job has nothing to do with music!!!!...Today, I ran 600 feet of cable today in the ceilings above above the hallways. I could go on and on, but choose not to because there is just too much to say, except THANK YOU to all the folks I met today! Whether it was a song from Hank Williams or Bob Marley, or Barry Manillow's 'Copa Cabana'...
because my hair is a tad long, ya'll thought I must also be a musician, and made me sing along with you before you would move your wheelchair out of the way and let me carry on with what I was actually being paid to do:-) Thank you! My life is richer for having crossed your paths...You go through so much on a day to day basis, year after year year! You are an inspiration!

I hear ya John. Some days, it's too bad you can't just go back to bed and start over. Every morning I wake up, first I'm thankful, then I wonder what the new normal will be for today.

I ran across this poem by several years ago by Gerald Kaminski that succinctly expresses how I feel way too often...

Age is a thug
and a thief
who mugged me
on the stairs

Then again, there's this:

Every morning, when we wake up
we have 24 brand new hours to live.
What a precious gift.

Like everything else, there's a balance we need to maintain if we want to get through this life. Maybe that's the secret to a successful one?

I have an old notebook computer that still works and that I like. I have kept it alive for years buying chargers and things off of Amazon. I bet you could find Model-T parts on Amazon. A suggestion for your Mac.

I suspect that you are already aware.

As far as getting old, it's not just...not for sissies..it will be a horrible ordeal for some of us.

But...you can help yourself out with some things;

Next time to lean under a table to get something...keep in my mind that you are under a table. wink

Hey Ricki:-)

Whenever anyone asks me "How ya doing?"

My standard reply is: Well, I woke up breathing:-)

The "gist"??? If you wake up breathing, then take a second breath to make sure that the first breath wasn't a dream....And then, keep on breathing all day long, and make the most of it!

S'mores for everyone!!!!!

Midnite

Yes waking up is important Bob. Interesting feedback on this subject. Thanks everyone for the interesting reads.

Summing things up... don't think for a minute that you're in control of your life. Fate may have other plans. And that makes each precious day exciting and mysterious. So bummers are a positive part of living. Without bummers, life would be boring and predictable. Gotta go. I think maybe another bummer is calling me. Yikes!

Dang....Why do I now think that Ben Willis is the "deepest thinker" I've ever run across!!! "Bath night, bummer". Three simple words that sum up volumes!

Reminds me of that song, "Everything Happens To Me". Yeah, had a few days like that.

Yeah, and here is the bummer of the day. Some slimeball named Carlos hacked into my Netflix account. I couldn't get on Netflix. Had to call Netflix's helpline. Changed info on my account. Now I'm back in business. Bummer.
