I really do go downtown here.."not Memphis there is a little coffee shop and all the kids hangout there, good food and great coffee, all the kids sit along the walls outside and play guitars some together and some loners .."origin of the song" one of my 2 min. songs..Mike Zaneski completes these little songs for me and just does terrific for what I hand Him. https://soundcloud.com/user-745253707/come-spend-a-little-time-with-me-mp3/s-coyEECome spend a little time with me v1 Down around a town called Memphis, a whole lot of sites to see. Hi Lane... and Mike by default:
This is a catchy little number and I certainly enjoyed what I heard. The little man sitting on my right shoulder (I call him Merlin) says this song has more potential than you two have squeezed out of the music tube. I hear conflicting tales about short versus long songs but I would "err on the side of about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. There are at least a dozen ways to go, a brief, tangent beat or possibly a longer instrumental break... but the lyricist inside me says it needs a few more words. Knowing that my musical instincts are usually wrong, as always, I wish you the very best of luck with the song about the town built on top of Chickasaw Bluffs. ----Dave

thank you Cal for listening and commenting, pretty short song but for some reason I like those. Lane
Hey Dave, your little guy might be right, I just do these little things for my kids and g-kids. someday they might drag them out and redo them, they all play, not much singing there but who knows whats coming..thanks Dave for taking time to listen and comment. Lane
Hey Doug, your right about anything you want is on this site. I give Mike these little songs and He shines them right up. does a great job on the small songs I send him.

Calvin, Dave, Douglas, Pete, Thanks for the kind words. I've only passed through Memphis a couple times but there's a definite feel to that city that's totally different from anywhere else. It's knowing it's (musical) history while looking out at the mostly poverty stricken-ness of it all..and yet folks really know how to enjoy themselves. My kinda place.. I'm glad you liked it; Lane's songs make it so easy. Mike

I'm with Dave on this. It's a great idea and Mike's treatment is a given, known wonderment. But ... I feel there's just a little more to get out of it. I understand that you think it's done so that's fine too.

A real chair dancer (if I was standing, it would be a toe tapper). Fun song Lane, and Mike threw his magic all over it. Nice! Ricki
