This could be one of my most provocative pieces. I have said that, as we reflect upon recent and perhaps not so recent events, there seems to have been quite the changing of the guards in other areas beside just our Presidency. For the past three decades or so as we have been involved in the game of follow the leader, we have seen abrupt changes that have caused much division. This is especially true in economic circles, leading to considerable increases in stress levels. Which could easily lead to more and more people freaking out. As a result I have often wondered if indeed sanitariums could be a future growth industry, hence a classic example of what's old becoming new again. Let's just hope that they will be more humane than some of the stuff of legend.

SANITARIUM

c2017 Brian Beecher

Overnight you learned something about our tortured self
Perspective of your value to the world has gone to hell
The spotlight has always been on you, now youíve lost your power
One more soul lost to the whims upon an ivory tower
Leverage their knowledge for to deal the final blow
Make terrible things happen to the people down below

A beautiful kite in the sky is flying as it should
Youíre emotionally in tune with your thoughts and it feels good
You could produce your own movie on the many twists and turns
A great deal of wishful thinking wonít protect you when youíre burned
You run ragged in providing fuel for your next big leap
Friends and family desert you and you canít get any sleep

Welcome to the sanitarium where the funny people go
At least there will be shelter from the rain and wind and snow
And in the sanitarium you will need to pave your way
Most likely you will be here up until your dying day
In here there will not be much time to play

You never saw it coming even in your wildest dreams
A bitter chill hangs over you as reality sets in
As you realize that something will have to be put on hold
Even on the warm days you feel left out in the cold
Although you once were all things to the people that you know
Your situation lets you know itís not always possible

Welcome to the sanitarium where the funny people go
At least there will be shelter from the rain and wind and snow
And in the sanitarium you will need to pave your way
Most likely you will be here up until your dying day
In here there will not be much time to play

Family supportive as you looked to strike out on your own
But now fate has turned against you and you feel all alone
This is what happens when the world is powered by greed
And youíre sent out to pasture when you canít keep up to speed
After giving them your lifeblood to help them steer the boat
Now you huddle up inside just to keep yourself afloat

Welcome to the sanitarium where the funny people go
At least there will be shelter from the rain and wind and snow
And in the sanitarium you will need to pave your way
Most likely you will be here up until your dying day
In here there will not be much time to play
