"NOT MY TYPE" Copyright 2017 M.Healey
Seven years together I said, "You should be my wife" She said I'll think it over I'll let you know to-night When I got home that evening Saw a letter in the light Dear John I love you honey But you're just not my type
Not my type You're not my type When I'm thinkin' I can't lose The opposite comes true That line will haunt my life You're not my type You're not my type
Saw some ladies on the corner Posing under a red light Wearing mini skirts and fishnets Boots reaching to the thigh So I flashed me a Benjamin Hoping hook would take a bite But they laughed into my face Sayin' you ain't no one's type
Not my type You're not my type When I'm thinkin' I can't lose The opposite comes true That line will haunt my life You're not my type You're not my type
Tried an online dating service Gave the info didn't lie I checked that thing for weeks Didn't get...not one reply I'm resigned to be a bachelor Mr. Right? I ain't that guy
Not my type You're not my type When I'm thinkin' I can't lose The opposite comes true That line will haunt my life You're not my type You're not my type
Still there's a chance someday I may hear someone say Hey I think you're ok Even though.... You're not my type
Not my type-you're not my type- That line will haunt my life What's that mean anyway? Not my type! Huh....

Funny song. The sort of self-deprecating ditty that would go down well live to a small crowd in a bar setting.

I'll chime in here, too, 9ne. A clever song with some really clever lines throughout. Would definitely like to hear how this fun lyric translates into song.
All the best,
Deej

Glad you found the time to chime Deej! Those are some kind words you left me. I'm always working on music to a number of songs, it would be nice if this one comes together. Thanks again! -Mike

This one does read as a loser's odyssey. Not bad, though, as the story is all too common. And I am one who has heard that line a number of times in his own life. But I imagine women hear the same thing from men as well. Not sure anymore, though, that the legend of men turning women down who don't have that hourglass figure is as true as its legend would have us believe. A male buddy I had many years ago once told me that the less beautiful are less likely to play hard to get; that the truly beautiful know they have their looks going for them and are less likely to settle. But there were more at that time who were satisfied if the other person had qualities X, Y, and Z. Now they seem to want you to have A through Z before giving you the time of day. And it isn't always that holy trinity of lots of money, killer good looks and designer clothes. Does seem more difficult to be the true "ladies' man" here in the twenty-first century. The term now seems to be quite derogatory. Do think this subject line would make a great song should you decide to take it to the next level. Do think that some of the increased selectivity can be laid at the feet of wanting to make sure that everyone involved knows any possible risks associated with taking on a potentially risky endeavor. Have said many times that today's womanhood is often willing to take risks in other areas of their lives but not so much in their social lives anymore. Was entirely different back when I first came of age.

Well said Beech! I'm dismayed that someone used that term against you, but I can assure you, the real loser is one who references another person in that manner. Who knows what a person's situation, history etc. may be. I've always said there's three sides to a story: mine, yours, and the truth. Thank you for a very thoughtful post; I certainly appreciate you stopping by. -Mike
