I was sitting on a stump with my thumb up my butt
starin all around and wonderin whut.

I wrote down some words on the back of sack.
they meant next to nothin' but a man out'a Nashville said he could turn 'em into something.

I said how in the name a' hell you gonna turn nuthin into somethin'?
He said, that's the new country, boy, didn't yo momma teach you nothin.

I said my momma did teach me nothin.
That's why I wrote it on the back of that sack.

He took my words to a studio in Nashville.
And told a man there that this was the real deal.

He told that man to put my words with melody number six
that's damn fur sure gonna light up some hicks.

The man said, melody number nine is the one that I'd go fur.
That'll get all those hicks and a little crossover

but the man looked at my words and said this'll never be a song.
There's too many things here, missing or wrong.

There's nothin about tequila.
There's nothing 'bout Jack, nothin 'bout Patron
There's nothin about being too drunk to find your way home.

There's nothing about a girl squeezing her tiddies
or shaking her ass for all the little kiddies.

There's nothing about a tractors.
There's nothing about a truck.
There's nothing about two kids...all they wanna do is f k.

There's nothing about sweet tea or some guy sayin "hey gurl."
There's just no reason to give this a twirl.

But the first man said, you can't see the forest cause your lost in the trees.
Your mind has been molded by the Nashville machine.

I can take nothin and play it like an ace.
All I need's a sanger with a real pretty face.

Good one, Martin. Rock this one.

Vic

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

If, given time, a monkey can write the complete works of Shakespeare maybe there's hope for me.

Hey Vic

It's not really a song. It's just a doodle. I didn't realize this section was here until I saw Deej had posted something. Seems a good place to doodle. Feel free to add a verse. wink

MOANING LISA

When I stare at you standin' there,
your hair is so fair blowing in the air.
I swear there is nothing anywhere that would dare to compare
to your fair hair blowing in the air.
You're the answer to my prayer.
And you've got a great pair.

Hey Gurl. You're my Gural
Just because you are there. (pronunced THAY-UR.)

And I don't care if you're too dumb to even chew gum
Cause you're my moaning Lisa, drinking that Barcardi and rum.
And I really like the way that you make me c m.

Hey Gurl. You're my Gural
Just because you are there.

BRIDGE
Cooba Leebray Gural. Coooooooba Leeeeeeebray.

Martin,

Some great lines in the doodles above. I think you may a burgeoning rap artist--that is, that opening stanza is ripe for that genre, and everything that follows could be tailored to fit.

Best regards, as always,

Deej

Thanks DJ.

There seems all sorts of overt and less overt rap influence in songs on "Country" radio these days. One of the new formulas seems to be...taking a rap metered lyric and putting it with an eighties melody structure and a guy or girl who sounds like they are from rural Ohio or Alabama or Florida. My attitude about it is...fine, go with it and have some fun. Truthfully...trying to incorporate rap-ishness into songs is fun. And you get more said. wink

Thanks for stopping by DJ.

Just Plain Quotes
"Our enemies may not be who we think they are. They are not Major Label monopolies. The world will always have 'majors.' They are not big corporations who own everything. The world will always have 'big' ones. Our enemies are not the loud mouthed critics telling us we will fail. The world will always have those too. Our most dangerous enemy is our own quiet acceptance of the fate we perceive these entities have mapped out for us. The only danger is our own complacency, or inactivity, and our willingness to believe so called experts who tell us we 'can't' and that our grim fate is inevitable." -Brian Austin Whitney
