Concrete Canyons
dwarfed by boxes of cement and glass, so small in the eyes of God, I follow straight square lines, walk among gray-suited ghosts and high-heeled zombies, and amble forward with mindless purpose.
we brush and bump, our touch not casual or familiar, interrupting our respective paths beneath a dismal gray sky— it threatens to rain down and wash away all the beauty this city hopes to hold
I march in step but dream: of mist in moonlight; of rustling limbs under twinkling stars; of a dawning sun lighting morning dew.
how I miss the smell of pines and meadow, the sound of a silent night awakened by a coyote’s call, the chill of a creeping fog, weaving its way through timbers, held at bay by canvas and cotton, and her beside me.
I have been here too long— absorbed and assimilated. I want to go, but I know I won’t be leaving: I am resigned to what I cannot change, and to what this life demands.
Yet somewhere deep within these concrete canyons echoes the sound of a lone wolf’s howl.

Absolutely Wondrous Poetry. It doesn't Rhyme and Flow like a lyric but it's fantastic. Can I post this on my Facebook Page under Barry Butler?
