Yes. imo...the key to a contented life is actively managing the access of people that you let close to you...if I understand your meaning.

Why did you post that here though?

Lost me, too... LOL! But I go around in a "Fog of Confusion" almost every day.

All that being said... I hope this was not a "cry for help"... 'cause we all need it from time to time. Sadly, I can't help myself by turning off the station where the "Muse" keeps telling me to write songs. If I were smart, like John, I'd compose and become a millionaire... then buy Panera's!

All my best,

----Dave

Most problems are solvable if humans got out of the way. But most of our problems require human ingenuity to solve and implement. So there's the rub.

Yes, obviously before people, the world never had any problems. If you don't consider land mass eruptions, volcanoes, meteors hitting the earth, earthquakes, forest fires, consuming entire continents, the mass extinction of an entire species of animals, world wide droughts, floods, poisonous atmosphere, and things like that.

Yes, things moved along swimmingly.

Problems are just part of Boot Camp For Heaven.
I've been dealing with Cancer now for almost four years and have no idea why I'm still here.
We are on some kind of conveyor belt and don't know when we will be kicked off and be
sent to the Terminal Lounge for Angel Transport to Heaven.
I explore subjects like this like in my song A TIME TO LIVE AND A TIME TO DIE...
It's all a blur as I just woke up last week and realized I'm almost 72....HOW the hell did that happen....lol
Oh Well Just another day in paradise.

The most extraordinary thing about the universe is that out of rocks, dust and inert gases...it created something that gazes back on it in contemplation. I read that somewhere that I can't remember. Always liked it.

Dang it, Charles:

See what you've started! Just throw something up on the wall and see what crawls out of the woodwork. Snared five willing participants with only a two word "header" to your thread. Brilliant! Bet you could sell refrigerators to Eskimos??? This braintrust of JPF geniuses must be bored out of their gourds, waiting for WWIII to begin... or maybe Putin to stop pooting at us. Oil is down... Facebook is up... some bald headed guy is telling us we are going to see new market availability to those willing to risk the family jewels... based on risky Chinese Investments. If only I had John's fortune!

At least there appears to be something worth watching on public TV tonight. I get so annoyed at their politics but their educational shows, mysteries and stuff like Downton Abbey are first class.

B-L-T sandwiches tonight at the Rice Household. Yum!

See Youse Guys!

Sorry, I grew up in housing projects and summer always brought out the worst in life, all the glue huffing, cross top popping, banger wannabes came out of the woodwork.

Summer was when all the [naughty word removed] happened, fights, burglaries, prowlers ........

That has stayed with me and that's all I see in the summer, just people at their worst.

Summer always erodes my faith in humanity.

No, that was'nt a cry for help, just grumbling.

Hey Mac, I hear ya, regarding what the heat of summer brings out.

All grumbling is allowed! .... And being a late-comer to this thread, I have only two things to say regarding you posting it here on JPFolks:

1. First and foremost: Ain't it comforting that JPFer's were actually worried about you?
In my time here, I have seen that over and over and over...

2. Awesome conversation starter. As a writer, whether songs, or screenplays or essays or novels or Facebook posts....The one thing I've learned: Sometimes, less is more. So, well done, sir!

My experience with summer growing up as a kid was different than yours.
TO ME it meant the end of the school year and Freedom. I hated school and just wanted to play sports.
I was a day dreamer and couldn't pay attention to the Teacher.
SO I'd leave school that last day with a smile on my face and with a bounce to my step and headed home There I would.change my clothes and then get my basketball and head to the Courts where I'd stay most of the summer. ALSO My parents sometimes sent me to sleep away camp and I really enjoyed that...SO summers to me was Swimming, Sports, Girls in Bikinnis, picnics, the Beach and FREEDOME...

Sorry I'm late again, guys: (No gals yet!)

I woke up very early this morning after listening to one of my older songs needing some serious surgery... LOL! Took care of the first recording in my little studio and then had sixteen prescriptions and supplements... with my breakfast.

What a nice surprise to see that old reprobate from Detroit now masquerading as a Southerner in Raleigh. Well said, Bob! I suspect Charles is an advertising executive in songwriter's clothes. LOL!

Charles and Barry: My summers were much like Barry's... I absolutely detested school, spent most of my time in class drawing and trying not to get caught. Recess was my favorite "class"... and the final bell would find me first out the door chasing poor Roy Baskett down the block to see who could reach what's her names house first. Summers in rural Arkansas were an absolute treasure to me. Swimming, baseball,, basketball, girls, swimming, more girls... etc. Freedom is a pretty darn good description, Barry.

Hi Barry:

I don't think I told anyone I need surgery??? I do... but I won't. My spine causes all manner of nerve problems including tingling toes and fingers... not to mention severe sciatica. (No more golf, dang it!)

My wife thinks I need a frontal lobotomy for spending all my spare time writing and recording what I call "songs!" But hey, it (songwriting) keeps me out of the pool halls and cat houses.

Nice song.

Hey Dave:-)

As many folks down here say: I wasn't born in North Carolina, but I got here as fast as I could.

Midnite

P.S. "Old reprobate"....Now, if that ain't a compliment, then I don't know what is!!!!!

No,No,No! Dave,
That is retrobate, er maybe a nice word for retarded! Actually an escapee from Detroit can't be all bad no? Didja tell Midnite about Jack White of White stripes setting up a Pressing Plant for Vinyl Albums in Detroit?. According to the Article in Popular Mechanics the plant can make about 5000 records a day. Now that'll smoke your tires!

Hi Ray... and Bob: (Midnite to most!)

I obviously didn't "get to Texas" fast enough... but I've been so close all my life, it doesn't seem to matter. Vinyl is making a comeback to a pretty limited group of purist consumers who probably have better "ears" than me. Other than the scratching sound, there seems to be more "depth" to old records when I listen to them.

Bob, you rascal, I hope you are doing well. We don't get the opportunity to talk much these days... but I try to keep up by reading your posts if they show up on the threads I usually monitor. Always glad to hear from you. (Both of you, Bob and Ray... sounds like a Radio or TV show, doesn't it?)

Best regards, ----Dave
