Hello all,

It has been awhile since I posted a new one ... been busy at that day job and gigginhg with my cover band. Anyway, sat down to write a love song and a political song came out instead. I realize many will have an opposing view of things. I have to call them like I see them, however. I hope all have been well and nice to hear some new ones on the JPF. Appreciate your thoughts.

Hi David:

Funny how it seems to help get things off your chest and write a political song. As a listener... it was really well written and performed. I wish I had a nickel for every political song I've written to relieve my disdain for this or that politician. As a member of the "other side" (conservative independent) some of the lines didn't exactly make me ecstatic... but if it "floats your boat" and makes you feel better, it's perfect. History will let us know which of us voted correctly... LOL! Thanks for sharing and let's hope everything works out fine for our country when all is said and done.

Hi Dave,

This is a very heartfelt protest song. I like the way you layer and build the music and vocals. I especially love the bridge with its 7sus4 chords and delay-pedal guitar responses..

This does capture the zeitgeist of fear and trepidation that exists with many Americans right now. I'm a big fan of Marc Maron's WTF podcast (lots of hour length conversations with musicians we love) and he's not a political dude, but he and most guests end up, for a moment or two at least, expressing similarly--their emotional baggage of anger and fear and all..usually not as eloquently as here, though.

Nice Dave....As one that writes LOTS of Protest songs I like it. My only suggestion is that the chorus could have been a bit different and catchier....BUT it is GOOD....

Hey Dave,

Nice work here. I think it's written beautifully and as usual great melody and music which is always part of who you are. No nits on the production.

I don't really see it as a "protest" song, as for me a protest song his a song advocating change or the ceasing of policies/actions etc. that are considered or seen as damaging for our country or personal future. For me you're really expressing more disdain and sorrow for what you feel the future holds. The lyrics will not be appealing to those who disagree with your assessment, and there would be those that feel 180 degrees from your expressions, and many other's feelings/views somewhere in between. Regardless of how each individual may feel or perceive our country's present circumstance, this is very good song and well written with some powerful expressions. I think songwriters are at their best when they are inspired.

Nothing evokes a response like a good politically motivated song! I've seen some pretty awful behavior on both sides of the political fence. From a strictly artistic point of view, I really enjoyed this. Well written and performed. Enjoyed it! I've been MIA from this site for quite some time. As I'm writing I'm catching up on a few of your more recent tunes. Really inspired stuff! Maybe it will inspire me to write again!
