Raleigh, ya'll
Okeedokee, ya'll!

"We're all in this together"....Shoot, I wish I could remember who I'm stealing that quote from:-(

It's not that this thread will close on November 17th, but I have some JPFolks to THANK!!!!

I know that I'll leave some folks out because I'm doing this from memory...My apologies...

So, in chronological order:

In an earlier thread, John V. & Niteshift & Roy Cooper(twice) tossed something into the kitty:-)

In that earlier thread...

Mike Z and Lisa Gundling double-teamed to offer a different approach to fundraising.

And THAT is where this whole Telethon Thingie evolved from!!!

Thank you, Lisa!!

THANK YOU, Mike Z, my terrific telethonific partner in crime!!!...:-)))

Thank you, Wendy & Calvin for helping to set the silly and friendly "tone" in the early days of the telethon!!!

And THANKS:

To all ya'all whose services I mentioned in my first posting here...Not one single one of ya dropped the ball:-)

To Jody Whitesides and Greg Watton...My California Connection Duo who just kept chiming in and chiming in to keep the Telethon going!!!!

To TampaStan!!!!!!!!All I had to do, if the telethon was slow for a day, was drop in Stan's name...It was like magic! What a legacy TampaStan left us with!!!

To ALL who have sent me PM's during the last 30 days. You have no idea how much your words have given me comfort!!!

To Roy Cooper and his(our) Helen....Words fail....

To Brian Austin Whitney and his ever-supporting wife Linda:

THANKS!!!!

You have built an on-line "Community" that is cherished!!!!

I am seriously looking forward to seeing what the next generation can add to it!!!!!

Signing off now...And taking a nap:-)

Thanks, Ya'll!!!!!

Midnite

Thanks, Midnite!

You took charge and made the Telethon "sing," as only you could, with love and humor, wit and whimsy, style and steadfastness.

Great job!!!

(((standing applause and cheers)))

Mike

We hit 30 contributions which put us past 2009... I think it makes it 3rd or 4th (need to count) biggest number since we started tracking. And the year isn't over. I don't know if folks will honor their offers later than your deadline, but if they do, we'll certainly note it on any further donations we get. The donations will certainly take a nice bite out of upgrade costs, especially when I add it to the previous money collected (I don't spend any of the pay pal money unless it is site related). The upgrade when it happens will mean the site will be down for some time. It's a major, multi-step overhaul basically going from totally obsolete technology to current. I have no idea what all the features will be (they are nearly done with another major update, so I may wait until that is ready to pull the trigger so we won't have to turn around and pay up again for yet another update. This is so old I think he has to do 3-4 complete upgrades to older versions just to get from Point A (our version) to Point B (current). I will kind of miss the old site that has served us so well, but if things go correctly, all the posts and other stuff should come along for the ride.

Thanks to everyone who donated services or money. And thanks especially to Bob who made this telethon work with his many helpers! It really has made it feasible to update and I sure can't wait to reopen the doors here to new folks for the first time in nearly 2 years at this point.

Hello & THANKS to all for the good teamwork here.
My part-time sister-Wendy DuMond, had a request for a lyric revolving around....[color:#3366FF]DIXIE DINGO
and this is what I came up with.
[/color]
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Dixie Dingo
© Wendy DuMond ( Nov. 15, 2016 )

My sisters name is Earnestine
She's got a dog named Dingo
When Dingo wears her Beatle boots
Dingo's incognito

Dixie Dingo

Dingo likes to juggle cats
There's pussy in the air
If he misses and they fall
Dingo doesn't care

He uses doggie listerine
So his breath won't stink
Mad Dog 20/20 is
What he likes to drink

If Dingo was political
He could legislate
Get the country back on track
Before it's all too late

Ernie has a tattoo of
A dog bowl on her face
The ladies in the choir think
Ernie's a disgrace

My sisters name is Earnestine
She's got a dog named Dingo
When Dingo wears her Beatle boots
Dingo's incognito

Okay gang, the upgrade is on for this weekend. It may take 6 hours to a day and a half to do the upgrade, so the site may be down for appx. that time over the weekend, so advanced warning.

This is a major undertaking and any number of unexpected issues could come up. They're going to do a backup in case of serious problems, but there's always a tiny chance that things could go awry, so wish us well!

If you need to talk to folks, remember we have a facebook page at www.facebook.com/justplainfolks as well as a Just Plain Folks On Facebook group (which is very small, but it's there). Click like or sign up to each if you haven't already so we can contact you there as well.

Carry on!

Brian

Hey Brian!

Awesomeness!!!!

I wish I could be a fly on the wall of those who haven't been paying quite enough attention when they try to "log on" over the weekend when JPF goes "dark" for a spell...

I will also miss the "old style"...But hey, I'll adjust:-)

Like Greg, I'm glad, and am looking forward to the "fresh blood".

Thanks!!!!

We're waiting on our host site to change some settings only they can handle, so if they don't do it tonight, it may push into next week.

I'm making a donation to JPF in the name of Roy Cooper. He did this video for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWdMq1lZ7fE Did a wonderful job. And was a delight to work with.

Thanks again Roy!

Best, John smile
