The Sons of Pennsylvaniahttp://www.broadjam.com/songs/lyrics/sons-of-pennsylvaniaVerse #1We are the sons of Pennsylvania , Coal dust runnin' through our blood. Like generations had before us, We toil away in sweat and mud. LiftOurs a true, and thankless honest labor, Looking straight, into the face of danger. ChorusEach workday, we all risk our very lives, When that lift, takes us for a ride. Deep inside the shell, of this old Mother Earth, Go the sons, the sons of Pennsylvania . Verse #2Can’t help but feel the heat a risin’, It’s comin’ from every side. As we work the large and yielding veins, We find worth and endless pride. Bridge
Solidarity and brotherhood, Is found in every man. Just part of who we are, What we’re born to understand. Instrumental. ChorusEach workday, we all risk our very lives, When that lift, takes us for a ride. Deep inside the shell, of this old Mother Earth, Go the sons, the sons of Pennsylvania . Go the sons, the sons of Pennsylvania . We’re the sons, the sons of Pennsylvania . Copyright © 2017 Ross Mabey / Jeffrey Ullsperger

Hi Ross, This is a beautiful lyric and song. The singer is definitely a country crooner and that translates well enough into a folk-ish outing which I was gathering this would be from reading the words beforehand. Excellent work from everyone involved . Mike

I can relate to this as I was born in Aberdare, a mining town in South Wales, UK. Many of my family were miners and I remember their black faces coming home and the women filling a tin bath by the fire so they could scrub the dust away.
Just over the hill from there was the great tragedy at Aberfan in which 116 children and 28 adults were killed when an unstable slag heap poured itself onto the local school.
Nice job on this one, Ross.
Vic

Hi Michael,
Thank you for your kind words and positive feedback. The vocalist Jason Adams did a great job on these lyrics. He added some great emotional feelings to the lyrics.
I grew up in a coal mining town in New South Wales, Australia, So I can relate to these brave guys who risk their lives daily.
Thanks again.
Ross.

Hi Vic,
Thanks for your positive feedback.
I also, grew up in a coal mining town in New South Wales, Australia. Not far from Aberdare, New South Wales, Australia the "name sake" of Aberdare in South Wales. A lot of the miners were from the UK.
So I can easily relate to those who risk their lives going down a back hole in the ground day after day. In a way this is a tribute to all those brave guys where ever they are who do this kind of work. Also, to those kids who were innocent victims.
Thanks again.
Ross.

This is an awesome guitar/vocal, Ross. Well written lyrics, great Americana/country/folk feel to it overall. You have a solid team! Ricki

Hi Ross:
This is a very well done collaboration. Coming from Australia, I immediately wondered how you and your team "researched the song" but on the other hand, coal mining is pretty much the same in most states and countries where coal seams exist. Americana as a genre certainly fits this one. Enjoyed this very much. ----Dave

Hi Dave,
Thank you for the positive feedback. It takes a special type of person to face the dangers of coal mining. I don't know what motivates them to do it, However, I admire their courage and tenacity to go down into a black hole in the ground day after day, year after year. It certainly takes a special kind of person, irrespective of nationality to do this kind of work.
As far as coordinating the production of the song, I guess that's where not seeing limitations on distance or culture make it easier to use one's imagination to make it happen. If that makes sense? just using one's common sense, After all people are people wherever they are.
Jeffrey Ullsperger and I have been writing together for several years and make up the lyric writing part of the team. We have been fortunate to find good melody writers and vocalists.
Thanks again.
Ross.
