Not posted a new on for a few months due mainly to learning new band songs and open mike nights. I spotted a Travis lyric a few days ago about a faded star missing his past and thought it would be a good idea to turn the meaning on it's head. We kept the title but this version is about him still being a star but he sort of regrets losing the old, simple life. Comments requested and welcome. Hi Vic:
Great to see and hear another "Arnold and Vaughan" song-post here at JPF. You have been missed and I hope things are going well for both of you. Loved the sound of this version and could listen all day.
Best of luck to both of you, my talented Welsh friends.

Hi guys, I love the Kris Kristofferson/Roger Miller -like lilt and dark humor subtly hidden behind the sad lyric. It's Vic putting a little irony into the music. When the harmony vocals come in, I know this could be a famous bar song--I was hearing the whole room singing along. Enchanting. This is the way to exit a career, lol, with this kinda class and earnestness and touch of humor (I can't help but laugh along with "LamBORghiNI.") Willie Nelson or even Robert Earl Keen Jr. would have fun with this for sure. Mike

Hey Vic and Travis,
I'm loving this -- cool beans!!
I do have one complaint to lodge: I can't stop singing, "but I'm nobody now." My self esteem plummets each time I sing it, but I can't stop!

Lisa Keep singing it! Sing it to your family, sing it out loud in your local store. Invite others to join in,sing it in your sleep. Phone up your local radio station and let them sample it! Of course if you'd rather not I'll understand. If you do however I'll come over and iron your duvet covers Travis

I could listen to you guys for hours! Enjoyed all the stringed instrumentation and slow, old-school country style. That is a really good chorus too!
I caught the hint of Kristofferson in there as well, you have powerful vocal capabilities.

Vic,
Nice work. Production sounds good to me and I like the picking guitar.
Solid write for sure. Lyrics are very good. Melodies are familiar but that's not a problem at all.
Good job

Hi Mike. Thank you. Yes it is sad. My wife likes watching TV in the dark but I don't. It reminds me of the grave, not that I've been there yet, though, so how would I know?

Hey guys,
Loved this classic country tune with a little mountain music influence. Great lyrics on this'n, just so genuine in feel and delivery. And what a great title hook line, simple yet powerful--with great analogies in support. I might use the full line for the title, as they just feel like one line that shouldn't be separated--"I Used to be Someone, but Nobody Now."
Are you sure that wasn't "Eddie Arnold," instead of Vic Arnold? Eddie would have loved this'n.

Good to hear a new one from the dynamic duo of Travis & Vic! Well written and nicely sung and produced.
I know it fits this style/genre but to me, it could use a little bump in BPM. I enjoyed my listen. Well done.

Hi Neil. It's a UK term. "Livery" is a non military uniform. I've not heard "Tuxedoed Chauffeur" but it obviously it would work in the US.
Your sugg for the last line is relevant but maybe a little too "sweet". I could be wrong though. Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment.
