Hi there JPFers! I thought it was time to throw a new one out there...something slow and slinky, thanks to Mike Z's production. All comments/suggestions welcome. Thanks for listening, Ricki https://soundcloud.com/rickib/different-kind-of-blueDIFFERENT KIND OF BLUE Used to be you couldn’t keep your hands off me Things you’d whisper in the dark I can’t repeat Sharing dreams bound our hearts with satin ties Blue velvet nights brought passion in our cries You can count on one hand The times I said no to you But lately all I see Is a different kind of blue Now when daylight comes my body’s bathed in sun Blue skies that match your eyes remind me you’re gone The lightness and brightness make me ill at ease What once brought us close now makes it hard to breathe You can count on one hand The times I said no to you But lately all I see Is a different kind of blue Nights and days crawl away leave me alone I’m lost on the far side of empty souls You can count on one hand The times I said no to you But lately all I see Is a different kind of blue You can count on one hand The times I said no to you But lately all I see Is a different kind of blue © Ricki E. Cool, smokey, and sexy. Listening to this, I picture myself in a small, nook in the wall blues bar, beer in hand, and just chilling, chilling, chilling. Great stuff!

Nice, havent heard a song like this in a while.
Definitely old school Billie holiday would have eaten this one up. Maybe Amy Whinehouse might have covered it in her time.
Enjoyed the retrocity!

Downright Sultry, Ricki:
Wish we could hire Peggy Lee to sing this one... but since she's no longer available... I sure thought you did a marvelous job with it. Loved the lyric, melody, vocal and honest-to-goodness great support from the Z man. Very special to my ears.
Thanks for sharing, ----Dave

Hi Dave, for a split second there I thought you said "Downright slutty Ricki" and I was going to take exception...but then I re-read it so, thanks Dave! Glad you liked it. Ricki

Ricki,
Nice and classic Blues for sure. Loved the Bridge, nice digression there, yet still maintains the same Blues feel and empowers the following ending choruses. Great opening line of the song BTW. Good work here Ricki & Mike Z.

Hey Ricki,
This is very sultry and compelling ... your voice is smoking and Mike Z. did his usual great job with highlighting your talent! I love the simplicity of the chorus, too ... it says so much with so few words!

Hi Calvin, Martin, Beechnut, Deej56, Trent, Mac, Dave, Tom, Eddie, and Lisa:
Thanks for listening and I agree, Ricki captured a smokey sultry vibe with her great song and performance and my job was to amplify those things without a lot of clutter. This worked best with a simple arrangement and I'm very happy knowing you all liked it.
Thanks again!
Mike
