We never shoulda
Gotten involved
In Korea
Or Vietnam
Shoulda taken
Care of business
Stayed outta wars
That don't concern us

Let's go back to 1950
Build some Fords and Chevrolets
Let's pick up where we left off
Things were better back in the day
Let's go back to 1950
Before computers, before TV
Before drugs, before gays
Things were better for you and me

We never shoulda
Gone to the moon
There's nothing there
Nothing but ruin
Let's stay home
Forget Mars
Have babies
Mow the yard

Let's go back to 1950
Build some Fords and Chevrolets
Let's pick up where we left off
Things were better back in the day
Let's go back to 1950
Before computers, before TV
Before drugs, before gays
Things were better for you and me

America first!
The only way
Let's get together
It's not too late

Let's go back to 1950
Build some Fords and Chevrolets
Let's pick up where we left off
Things were better back in the day
Let's go back to 1950
Before computers, before TV
Before drugs, before gays
Things were better for you and me

Not convinced there were no drugs or gays then Jim lol.
It was kept to themselves.Over here it was illegal to be a practicing homosexual up to the mid 60s.
Never understood what practicing meant? Perhaps it's someone who hasn't quite got it right !

Never quite understood The Gay Gordons, either.

It's never too late? Yes it is, so do it now.

If, given time, a monkey can write the complete works of Shakespeare maybe there's hope for me.

Theres a reason why millions of songs talk about FALLING in love. very few songs about 'making a logical, practical, well thought out decision to be in love'.

The simple fact is one day it just hits us in the face, head, heart, and/or genitals by surprise, and you realize (often to your dismay) that OMG I'm in love!

Gay people did not choose to be aroused by members of the same sex, any more than I (i'm straight) make any conscious decision that 'breasts are sort of conical and that's a popular geometric shape, so therefore I should be aroused by them'. Its beyond our control or explanation.

Moosesongs comments are quite interesting. Things were better for some during that time frame but not for gays of African Americans or those who didn't fit the cultural norm. The word gay still meant happy then, and aids were things used to help people. No McDonald's yet either. That was still five years away. Placing any bets as to whether they'll still be around in 2055!
