Well sure, In the past I have signed Publishing Contracts and have been sent solicitations out of the blue to send more material anytime. However you can be the judge. One that received much attention is AROUND AND AROUND, Posted under Ray's Music at http://www.geocities.ws/fiverosesmusicgroup/ Also listen to THUMPER JONES. I received a "Terrific Offer" from a hot property in Nashville no less that for only $490.00 they would put my song on a disc to send to prospective Clients looking for songs. And would you believe it, Nashville is Booming! More Artists than ever are looking for songs! Well go figure!

After some serious "navel gazing" Barry, I doubt if I have anything good enough for radio play. I do have aspirations but there are so many good songs already written and so many good songwriters still in the game. Best of luck to you. ----Dave

I mean, I *think* I do, but of course everything is subjective. I do know this particular song has made its way into several music libraries and was going to be used in a mid-budget independent film, but they reshot the scene and didn't need it after all. So I like to think it's good enough for radio, anyway! https://soundcloud.com/brandonsturiale/perfect-with-you-brandon-sturiale-ft-josh-tolle

With what I've been hearing on radio, the question should be, do you have a song bad enough for radio. If you have the major labels behind you, it seems most songs could get airplay. I wonder why that is?

Apparently I do. Two radio stations, one in southern Oregon (KSKQ-FM) and one up north in Astoria (KMUN-FM), have played my music. I should note that both stations have live DJs who have control over their own playlists--and that the *only* times my music has ever been played is by live DJs who had control over their own playlists. I get short shrift (actually, no shrift) from Monopoly Radio, and I give them no attention in return.

The truth hurts, Joe:
Big Monopoly Radio is not good for America. Glad to know you are getting a "fair shake" from the small station DJ's.
All the best,

DooWahDiddy, I'd say out of everyone who's posted on this thread who think they have radio ready singles, you're the closest to having that from what I've heard. I listened to "Perfect With You". Love the lyrics and melody. Music production and vocal production could be tweaked here and there though. Love the song. Very upbeat and positive. With the right arrangements and production, could very well be a song worth pitching to Adam Levine (Maroon 5). But that's my two cents. While I am on topic of radio ready material, I've already had material played on Radio Disney and commercial radio stations in Germany, Japan, Australia, South Korea, the UK, etc...So, I don't really need any further validation on whether I have radio ready material or not. But to entertain the topic of this thread, I'll go ahead and post something....Here goes: https://soundcloud.com/thewattonshow/songwriter-reel

"Good enough" also needs to take into account the winds of taste, and just what is the prevailing "sound" of the day. I do have a couple of songs that I think are good enough for radio -- were this the 1990s or another time when that sound was popular. But then, the sound of something like this: https://hoponpop.bandcamp.com/track/break-my-heartOr this: https://hoponpop.bandcamp.com/track/you-wrote-this-songIs just not what radio is playing these days, is it? So yeah, I have quite a few songs that are GOOD enough. But, I'm not so sure that they fit in with the prevailing sound.

I doubt that mine would fit in to a market or format. I can say what stands out with me from what has been placed on playlists (most often in pop) and what the feedback has been. I don't get in to social media sites too much outside of select forums where I am looking for something different, but not what a perspective fan base might think. That has to be a lot different than performing musicians interacting with a base support. How many do a song thinking that they are going to do bad though? Even pros have stuff that others might not think as much of.
The mp3's I have done in the past on here were not formidible enough to make an accurate assessment from the members. I guess the thing that I have learned more than anything else is to try and take the influences I am interested in individually. Even if it may be hoakie and generic and if people laugh. At least it is understood.

I agree with Greg, DooWahDiddy's song sounds pretty good.

Yes I have a song playing on country radio stations in the US Southwest. Not enough to make money off of it.

Well, two of my songs have thus far been aired on over 100 radio stations throughout the world, but nothing mainstream, college stations, etc. I had 10K spins in Columbia, or somewhere in Latin america, according to my ASCAP report, and earned about $2 in royalties three years later.

It's not the song that needs to be good enough, it's the recording, and performances.
Anybody who says you can't polish a turd, doesn't listen to pop radio

There are plenty of terrible songs that will still be terrible no matter how much production is thrown at them.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is terrible. The stuff on radio now is comparable to most other eras of music in the past. Some good, some great some lame depending on your preferences. Someone else may find it all fantastic and great music is in the ear of the beholder. Your terrible is many more peoples fantastic.

True tastes are subjective, craft and skill are more objective
You wrote in your first post "There are plenty of terrible songs that will still be terrible no matter how much production is thrown at them."
How did you determine the terrible song then?
