One from the drawers a while back, when I was younger Signe Jakobsen did the wonderful backing vocals http://www.singerspro.com/uk/singer/profile/signe-jakobsen On To SomethingOn To Something ©2010 Magne Kolstad I've been workin' at the boondocks Washing dishes every night Guess it's too late to regret The poor choices in my life When I get home Im tired and weary Can't find a way out of this mess I start to text a little message Sending you an SOS Cause I know I'm on to something I know I'll have it made I know I'm on to something When you are here with me The wind feels like a soft breeze And the sky is clear and blue I know I'm on to something When I'm with you We take a walk out in the streets You never seem to mind, that I can't afford the comforts All you want is a little time You rub my chest and then you tell me Everything's gonna be allright Won't need anything else I just wanna hold you even tighter Cause I know I'm on to something I know I'll have it made I know I'm on to something When you are here with me The wind feels like a soft breeze And the sky is clear and blue I know I'm on to something When I'm with you I don't mind going nowhere Don't mind whatever strain It just works up the muscle To stay with you right here Cause I know I'm on to something I know I'll have it made I know I'm on to something When you are here with me The wind feels like a soft breeze And the sky is clear and blue I know I'm on to something When I'm with you Repeat chorus - out

Nice feel to the song.
A suggestion....
to me, there is too much "attack" on the vocal in the verses. As you run them up the vocal melody becomes less melodic to me and sort of abandons me as I listen until your voice relaxes again. I would save the attacks for the chorus where it sounds fine. In the verse I would bring the attack and emphasis down and concentrate on the warmth in your voice (there is a lot there)....and being palpable, fully present and personable to the listener.
I am not "in the business," Just an amateur hobbyist....so please view my comments as sincere and well intended...but not professional.
Martin

Thanks Martin. As I understand it "attack" is the beginning of each note, right? Not a pro either, not even a singer, although I did an attempt on this one. Don't do it as much anymore, though. I can't edit the song anymore, as I've lost the individual tracks, so it is what it is now, I'm afraid.

Hi Magne:
You're "On to Something" with this song. I regret you've lost the original tracks... but it sure might be worth the effort to "re-cut" the song to bring it to it's full potential.
Like Martin, I'm an amateur at best... but I know the "makings of a good song" when I hear one. I like your vocal style and believe the lyric can be "tweaked" a little here and there to make it easier to sing.
Deciding how to classify the genre of the song is a bit difficult for me... maybe folk-rock... (maybe not)... but it has so much potential.
Best of luck with it. I suspect you will someday take time to record it again. Keep us posted if it is convenient.
Regards,
----Dave

I've always enjoyed your songs, Magne. I don't remember this one but really like it as well. Good to hear you posting again.
Whatever happened to Signe? I tried to contact her a while back but she's gone in the wind.
