"We Just Gotta be Friends" https://www.facebook.com/john.daubert.73Been crazy and absent with spending a lot of time in my little home studio area, trying to get better in all aspects, so I can get more studio session work. This tune needs a pro singer. Thank you for any comments, John

Johnny,
I'm not a Facebook guy, so couldn't access the tune from there, but followed the Soundclick link and saw the song there. I'm assuming it's the same tune. But it's a cool, cool tune--great sound, nice production and back vocals. Can't quite pick up the vocals entirely, so can't comment on the lyrics--but, hey, who knew what early R.E.M. was ever singing about, so it's a lot about the sound. And what you have is smooth. At the risk of offending you--because some may take it the wrong way--there's something that for whatever reason reminds me of Barry Manilow mixed with an 80s tune. Does that make any sense?
At any rate, really fun listen. Good stuff.
Regards,
Deej

Pretty cool. No fire in it though. Its obviously well put together but it sounds like a song you'd hear in CVS. Also think as strong as the sound is, that the lyrics lack passion and certainly don't make me think. Its a great song if you want to have Miley Cyrus sing it and make money but a bad song if your goal is intellectual creativity. IMO. I agree on all points. Was written LONG ago, early 80's. If MIley or similar cut it, and stuck it in a whatever they call it now, (album_?, then I would welcome that, for artist purity is for those who don't get those chances, (Ha). I NEED to be working or making money any way I can, short of being criminal. So, if Weird Al wanted to do his funny thing to it and get half of the writers royalties, I would ALL on board? I am way past the time of thinking I was all that, and ONLY my way is the way. Or, that all my songs are good. Or, my singing, (?). My mother always told me I play much better than I sing, so I have NO problem with any kind of review and anyone's opinion. It is RIGHT for you, just as it would be right for someone else to hate it, or another to love it. I do know that you are right in my ideas of it too. it is not on fire. It could be better lyrically. I thank you for your honest review, and of course, for your time and care to reply.

Deej The lyrics are simple, so you're not missing a mind blower. Just are sincere to me, which may come across to some. I just had a good friend say the same Barry Manilow thing! If the vibe fits, it fits! Imagine if he even at this point for him, wold cut this song?! I would be honored. He could rewrite the lyrics too. And to do his usual key modulation, or modulations even~~ haha. So, you are in the same hearing this as one of my good friends. I wrote this in the early 80's, so with having him in mind even when not intentional, and with me TRYING to compose a Paul0like melody, as The Long and Winding Road, it will have that past era feel. I am 64, so I also have a lot of OLD time music in me still. Can't help it. Most of my stuff is retro sounding. I will NOT do anything new, for sure. I don't know what I would do if not having ALL the music I heard in me. I am just a redoer of sorts. Hoping not to infringe on anyone's copyright! Thank you for your time and care to write all you did for me. I can NOT be offended by anyone's deep thoughts, as if fits them. I understand and know where you are coming from.
