Has anyone done it better than this?

I can appreciate songs with an instrumental "lead-in"....As long as the lead-in leads me to something special....

But sometimes, ya know, I want something right off the top....Gimme yours!

As for me....Little Richard....Tutti Frutti

I was buying Richard's records in the late 50s when I was 12 years old.

i disagree with the premise. A song shouldn't bore you anywhere in the song, if it does, it needs a rewrite.

He's just quoting an old songwriting checklist cliche. If you see songwriters who charge for critiques, or write books on songwriting, this idea comes up a lot A lot of hit songs are all about the chorus. A lot of aerosmiths commercial stuff, the verses were unforgettable.

But I do agree, in terms of songwriting as an art that's a different thing. I wasn't sure if he was asking for music that starts without an intro, or music that stars with chorus, I mentioned a mix of both

Yeah, I kinda got that, the thread was actually about songs that didn't start with a verse. Still, I'm taking a moment to challenge the old cliche, nevertheless smile.

Led Zeppelin "Black Dog". I don't know if this fits in the category but the structure of the song is unusual. Intro..intro..intro..guitar solo..bridge..intro.. intro..bridge..intro..intro..intro..guitar solo..bridge..intro..intro..bridge..guitar solo..the end.

Two mega hits around y2k alternative rock, they both start right out with the. Chorus. Gotta admit, this was one song on the radio I was really excited about at the time. Just high energy. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MpdfrUJUgs4 The other is by stone sour, which I also liked quite a bit https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Keeqf5dCMw
